Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari today awarded Nishan-e-Pakistan, the highest civil honor of the nation, to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto Djojohadikusumo during a special investiture ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
The ceremony was attended by notable figures including Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, members of the federal cabinet, and high-ranking military officials. The event highlighted the strong diplomatic ties between Pakistan and Indonesia.
Earlier in the day, the two leaders engaged in discussions centered on the historic relationship between their countries, emphasizing shared values and long-standing goodwill. They expressed a commitment to work together for peace, stability, and prosperity.
President Zardari conveyed condolences to President Djojohadikusumo over recent natural disasters in Sumatra. The leaders discussed promoting interfaith harmony and economic cooperation, with a focus on sectors like information technology and renewable energy.
The meeting also addressed defense cooperation, climate resilience, and regional security, with a focus on Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral and multilateral collaboration.
The ceremony concluded with a state banquet in honor of the visiting Indonesian President.
