Islamabad: Aafia Siddiqui’s repatriation could be imminent if the Pakistani government demonstrates the necessary political will, according to her sister and Aafia Movement leader, Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui. Dr. Fowzia, currently on a tour of the United Kingdom, addressed gatherings in London, Bedfordshire, and Luton following earlier appearances in Manchester and Leicester. She asserted that if the government acts decisively, Siddiqui’s return could be achieved within days. Dr. Fowzia emphasized that all parties in Pakistan’s ruling coalition have publicly acknowledged Aafia Siddiqui as a “daughter of the nation” and pledged to secure her release.
Siddiqui’s lawyer, Clive Smith, confirmed ongoing efforts to secure her release from American custody, stating that the timeline remains uncertain. Other speakers at the events, including Jamal Richard and Qari Ishaq, highlighted Siddiqui’s ordeal and denounced the alleged inhumane treatment and violation of her fundamental rights. Dr. Fowzia has received enthusiastic receptions in every city and town she has visited in the UK.
