President Directs Urgent Measures to Safeguard Food Security

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has directed that urgent measures be taken to safeguard food security in the country following the recent flood devastation.

He conveyed these instructions during a meeting with Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The President emphasized the importance of protecting farmers and ensuring the uninterrupted availability of essential commodities. He also highlighted the need to promote modern, climate-resilient agricultural practices.

President Zardari expressed confidence that the Ministry of National Food Security and Research would take effective steps to enhance productivity and improve storage and distribution systems.

He underscored the importance of building long-term resilience in the agriculture sector to withstand future challenges.

Former Federal Minister and Parliamentary Leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party in the Senate, Ms. Sherry Rehman, was also present during the meeting.
