Punjab Gears Up For National Youth Games With Completed Team Trials

Islamabad: The Punjab Sports Department has finalized its teams for the inaugural National Youth Games following comprehensive trials held at the Nishtar Park Sports Complex (NPSC) Gymnasium Hall. The selection process, overseen by Director General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab, Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry, concluded on Wednesday with volleyball trials involving over 100 aspiring athletes from across the province.

A three-member panel, including Director Sports Rana Nadeem Anjum, MB Javed, and Kafaiytullah, evaluated the players. Chaudhry closely observed the proceedings and commended the participants’ skills. He emphasized the transparency of the trials and announced that training camps for the chosen athletes will commence at various NPSC venues on August 25, under the guidance of Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar.

Chaudhry expressed confidence in the talent unearthed during the trials and affirmed that the Punjab contingent is well-prepared for the National Youth Games, scheduled in Islamabad from September 7 to 13. The trials also saw the presence of Director Admin Abid Shaukat and other officials. The participating athletes posed for group photographs with Chaudhry. The Director General highlighted the identification of promising volleyball players during the selection procedure and reiterated the merit-based approach employed by all selection committees.
