Pakistan Ulema Council Chair and IIUI President Explore Strengthening Ties

Islamabad: Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council and Special Representative to the Prime Minister on Interfaith Harmony and the Middle East, met with Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed, President of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), to discuss boosting academic and religious collaboration.

The meeting, which took place at the President’s Office on the IIUI New Campus, centered on enhancing cooperation between the Pakistan Ulema Council, IIUI, and its Islamic Research Institute. Both leaders stressed the need for joint efforts in advancing Islamic scholarship and promoting interfaith harmony.

A major focus of their discussion was the enhancement of ties with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The leaders reiterated their commitment to educational, cultural, and religious cooperation with the Kingdom, acknowledging its significant role in the Muslim world.

In a pledge of mutual support, Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi emphasized the role of Islamic institutions such as IIUI in fostering narratives of peace and moderation. He highlighted their importance in addressing contemporary challenges facing the Muslim Ummah.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the Pakistan Ulema Council. He reaffirmed the university’s dedication to promoting research and higher education rooted in Islamic values.
