Islamabad: The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has responded to a statement by a wrestling coach claiming lack of cooperation in preparing wrestlers for the Asian Youth Games 2025, labeling it as misrepresentation of the facts.
The PSB has stated that it is fully supporting the training efforts for the upcoming games. According to the board, comprehensive facilities are in place, including the provision of a foreign training camp specifically for the wrestlers preparing for the Asian Youth Games 2025.
In response to the Pakistan Wrestling Federation’s request, the PSB approved a foreign training camp for four wrestlers and one coach. This camp is also in preparation for the Youth Olympic Games 2026. The PSB has asked the federation to submit a detailed training plan, including travel dates, training programs abroad, and accommodation arrangements, to facilitate immediate implementation.
Additionally, the PSB has already advanced 7.55 million rupees, exceeding the requested 6.60 million rupees, to ensure the training camp proceeds without delay. The payment was made via Cheque No. B-520058, dated May 22, 2025.
The PSB emphasized that the media portrayal of non-cooperation is not only misleading but also potentially harmful to the image of national sports. The board urged the wrestling federation to address the issue of irresponsible statements seriously.
