KARACHI: The Dow University of Health Sciences marked its Independence Day celebrations with a series of events aimed at fostering national pride and unity. The festivities, which began on August 1, included sports competitions, a national song contest, and a declamation contest themed “Land of Heroes.”

Vice Chancellor Professor Jehan Ara Hasan highlighted the significance of the celebrations, noting that they reflect the national consciousness and the sacrifices made for the country’s freedom. She emphasized the need for unity among students, faculty, and all societal segments to face challenges collectively.

The flag hoisting ceremony, a central event in the celebration series, was held at Dow Medical College. It was attended by Vice Chancellor Professor Nazli Hussain, Registrar Dr. Ashar Afaq, and other prominent faculty members alongside students and staff.

Professor Jehan Ara urged citizens to renew their commitment to the principles on which Pakistan was founded, such as truth, justice, and freedom. She called on all to contribute to the country’s progress and stability, setting aside personal interests.

The ceremony concluded with the hoisting of the national flag and the playing of the national anthem, followed by patriotic slogans resonating among the attendees. The series of events will continue until August 13, culminating in the celebration of the country’s independence.
