Lahore: Pakistan is preparing to uphold its unbeaten record in 2025 as the national women’s cricket team gears up for a three-match T20I series in Ireland next month. The tour is seen as a crucial step in their preparation for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup scheduled in India and Sri Lanka in October.
Led by captain Fatima Sana, the team is focused on maintaining its current winning streak, having recently secured all five matches at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier on home soil. Sana, who took 12 wickets during the Qualifier, emphasized the importance of carrying forward this momentum against Ireland.
The matches in Dublin, starting on August 6, present different conditions from those experienced in Lahore. Despite this, Sana expressed confidence in the team’s ability to adapt and perform with vigor.
Opener Muneeba Ali, a standout performer in the Qualifier with 223 runs, is aiming to continue her impressive form. She achieved a personal best on the ICC Women’s ODI Batter Rankings following the event and is keen to replicate her success in the upcoming series and World Cup.
The series will not only help in honing skills for the T20I format but also provide valuable experience for the 50-over World Cup. Muneeba noted the importance of focusing on both formats and building on the lessons learned during the Qualifiers.
The squad traveling to Ireland includes key players such as Aliya Riaz, Diana Baig, and Nashra Sundhu, among others. The team hopes to leverage their skills and teamwork to maintain their winning trajectory as the World Cup approaches.
