Islamabad: A new five-week course on “Fiqh al-Sirah” was inaugurated at the Shari’ah Academy of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), in collaboration with Jamia Muhammadi Sharif, Chiniot. The course aims to delve into the legal, ethical, and practical dimensions of the life of Prophet Muhammad, with a focus on its relevance in contemporary society.
In the opening session, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram, Director General of the Academy, emphasized the importance of studying the Sirah not just as a historical account, but as a continuous source of moral and legal guidance for Muslim communities.
Sahibzada Qamar ul Haq, President of Jamia Muhammadi Sharif, discussed the vision behind the course, stressing the importance of connecting modern audiences with the practical wisdom found in the Prophetic model.
Prof. Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Sajjad, Chairperson of the Department of Islamic Thought, History, and Culture at Allama Iqbal Open University, delivered a keynote address. He spoke about the evolution of Fiqh al-Sirah as an academic discipline and highlighted recent scholarly efforts and ongoing developments in the field.
The course is structured in a hybrid format, with sessions held three days a week, from Tuesday to Thursday, allowing for both physical and online participation.
