Pakistan’s Women’s Cricket Team Prepares for Double World Cup Year

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled a packed schedule for the national women’s cricket team as they brace for a challenging 2025-26 season. The calendar is headlined by two major global events: the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

The international season for Pakistan’s women cricketers will commence with a three-match T20I series against Ireland in Dublin this August. This series marks the beginning of a rigorous preparation phase for the team as they gear up for the forthcoming World Cup events.

In a bid to fine-tune their skills ahead of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, Pakistan will host South Africa for a three-match ODI series in mid-September. These matches will take place just before the official warm-up fixtures for the tournament.

Having secured their place in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 through a successful Qualifier run, the team will travel to Sri Lanka. There, they are scheduled to play seven league-stage matches from October 2 to 24. If they advance, the semi-final is set for October 29, with the final on November 2.

Following the conclusion of the World Cup, Pakistan will embark on a new cycle of the ICC Women’s Championship. This will involve a six-match series in South Africa in February-March 2026, consisting of three ODIs and three T20Is.

The team’s international engagements continue with a home series against Zimbabwe in April-May 2026, featuring three ODIs and three T20Is. In preparation for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, Pakistan will participate in a T20I tri-series in Ireland, playing against the hosts and West Indies.

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled from June 12 to July 5 in England, will cap off Pakistan’s international cricket calendar for the season.

Rafia Haider, Head of Women’s Cricket, emphasized the importance of the upcoming season, stating, “The upcoming season is significant, with major events such as the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup and ICC Women’s T20 World Cup on the horizon. Our international schedule has been designed to ensure thorough preparation, with quality opposition that will enable the players to perform well and contribute to the team’s success.”
