Washington: Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party and Head of Pakistan’s Diplomatic Mission, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, held a high-level meeting with members of the U.S. Congressional Pakistan Caucus in Washington. He was joined by a senior parliamentary delegation, consisting of elected representatives from various political factions in Pakistan.
During the meeting, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari conferred with Republican leaders Jack Bergman and Ryan Zinke, as well as Democratic leaders Tom Suozzi and Ilhan Omar, among others. The discussions focused on key issues including regional peace and stability in South Asia, Pakistan-India relations, and significant water disputes.
Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari strongly voiced concerns to the Congressional leaders about India’s recent water actions, stating, “India has weaponized water, endangering the future of not only Pakistan but the entire region.” He criticized the Modi government for its repeated provocations and baseless attacks, describing them as manifestations of war hysteria.
He commended former U.S. President Donald Trump for his role in de-escalating past tensions between Pakistan and India, emphasizing that “Pakistan remains committed to peace, but sadly, India consistently resists dialogue.”
Chairman Bilawal warned that unchecked Indian hostility could severely threaten regional peace. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to constructive engagement based on mutual respect and peaceful resolution of disputes.
The members of Congress welcomed the delegation, attentively listened to Pakistan’s concerns, and expressed a willingness to enhance bilateral engagement and promote regional stability.
