KARACHI: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has urged for immediate and collective action to address environmental issues in Pakistan and protect the planet for future generations. He emphasized the need for a “green revolution” not only in agriculture but also in governance and daily life.
In a statement issued by the Media Cell Bilawal House on World Environment Day, Bhutto Zardari highlighted the pressing environmental challenges, urging reflection on the impact of human actions. “The air we breathe, the water we drink, the land we live on—all are crying for healing,” he noted, asserting that nature is integral to human existence.
Bhutto Zardari pointed out Pakistan’s vulnerability to climate change, despite contributing less than 1% to global carbon emissions. He called for accountability from those responsible for pollution and demanded climate justice for Pakistan’s people, who suffer from floods, droughts, and heatwaves.
He reaffirmed the PPP’s commitment to climate resilience and environmental protection, recalling the efforts of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in prioritizing environmental awareness. He stressed the party’s ongoing dedication to clean energy, forest conservation, and water preservation.
Concluding his message, Bhutto Zardari appealed to the younger generation to actively use their voice and actions to advocate for a healthier planet, urging them to “choose life” and “choose Earth.”
