Karachi Vice Chairman Calls for “Operation Rid Al Dako” to Combat Rising Gang Street Crimes

Karachi: Abdul Hakim Quaid, Vice Chairman of the Pasban Democratic Party, has demanded the initiation of “Operation Rid Al Dako” in Karachi, a new law enforcement campaign aimed at curbing the city’s escalating gang street crimes. Quaid emphasized the urgency of taking stringent actions to address what he described as rampant criminal activities and police negligence.

According to Pasban Democratic Party, the city has been plagued by increased gang activities, with groups of 10 to 15 individuals committing coordinated crimes while others provide cover. Quaid criticized the local government and law enforcement for their alleged inactivity and complicity, accusing police station officials and the Sindh People’s Party of fostering a “culture of looting.” He stated that police stations in Sindh have turned into crime syndicates with station heads acting as criminal leaders.

Quaid further highlighted the poor quality of criminal investigations and the irresponsible behavior of the police, which he claims have led to a low reporting rate of gang-related incidents. Despite 44,000 reported incidents of street crime this year, including 88 fatalities and hundreds of injuries during robberies, he claims effective action remains absent. In one noted case, a viral video depicted a gang in Bahadurabad assaulting a young man and stealing his motorcycle, yet no arrests followed.

Quaid’s call for “Operation Rid Al Dako” reflects his party’s stance on the necessity for a more robust and responsible law enforcement response to safeguard Karachi’s residents and restore order in the city’s troubled areas.
