Islamabad: A new scholarship program has been launched for students from Gilgit-Baltistan, offering financial support for undergraduate studies at Pakistani universities for the academic year 2024-25. The program, titled “Undergraduate Scholarship Programme for Students of Gilgit-Baltistan,” aims to cover tuition, hostel, and other academic expenses, facilitating higher education opportunities across various disciplines.
According to Dow University of Health Sciences, which is overseeing the initiative, eligible students must be residents of Gilgit-Baltistan and have completed their higher secondary school certification. The scholarship provides up to Rs. 240,000 per year for tuition and hostel fees and a monthly stipend of Rs. 15,000, along with books and traveling allowances totaling Rs. 30,000 annually. Prospective candidates must undergo an aptitude test, the scores of which, along with academic credentials, will determine their qualification for the scholarship.
The HEC emphasizes the importance of applying through their official portal and ensuring that applications are complete and submitted before the deadline on September 30, 2024. They also advise candidates to retain a hard copy of the application confirmation for reference. This educational support is expected to significantly aid students from Gilgit-Baltistan in accessing quality higher education, thereby contributing to the region’s development and the broader educational objectives of Pakistan.
