IOC Launches Diploma in Sports Physical Therapies for Global Professionals

Islamabad: The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced the introduction of a new Diploma in Sports Physical Therapies, a distance learning program designed to enhance the professional capabilities of physical therapists and athletic trainers worldwide. The two-year program, set to commence on October 1, 2024, aims to deepen participants’ scientific understanding and practical skills in sports physical therapies.

According to Pakistan Olympic Association, the program will run in two parts, each spanning six months, with the first part concluding in April 2025 and the second beginning in October 2025, ending in April 2026. The diploma program is structured to provide comprehensive training in sports physical therapies, including research methods and best practices. It will also focus on enhancing communication skills necessary for the dissemination of scientific material. Olympic Solidarity will cover registration fees for accepted candidates, while other costs must be borne by participants or their sponsors.

Eligibility for enrollment requires a degree in Physical Therapy or Athletic Training from a recognized university, with professional registration where applicable. Instruction will be in English, and proficiency must be demonstrated through various accepted tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent qualifications.

Potential candidates are encouraged to submit their applications by September 11, 2024, which should include relevant degrees, an updated CV, passport copy, a recent digital photo, proof of English proficiency, a personal cover letter, and an Olympic Scholarship Application.
