Islamabad: In a significant meeting today at Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Asif Ali Zardari underscored the enduring friendship and strategic cooperation between Pakistan and China. The discussion came during a visit by General Li Qiaoming, the Commander of the Ground Forces of the People’s Liberation Army of China, highlighting issues of mutual interest and reaffirming commitments in the face of global challenges.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, President Zardari elaborated on the depth of the Pakistan-China relationship, which spans over seventy years, and expressed a commitment to enhancing military, defense cooperation, and cultural ties. Emphasizing the importance of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, he pointed out the need for close collaboration to counteract opposition from detractors of both nations.
During the meeting, General Li echoed the sentiment of strong bilateral ties and emphasized the need for continued partnership in combating terrorism, expressing condolences for recent attacks in Pakistan. The day also saw President Zardari bestowing the Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) on General Li for his role in bolstering defense relations between the two countries.
