Shakib Al Hasan Confirmed for Bangladesh’s Full 2024 Test Schedule

Dhaka: Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh’s senior all-rounder, has been confirmed to participate in all Test matches for the remainder of 2024, including the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) series against Pakistan, as per the chief selector.

According to International Cricket Council, Chief Selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain shared insights into discussions with Shakib about his fitness and commitment to the national team. “Shakib assured us of his participation in all the Tests and the practice sessions leading up to each series,” Hossain said, emphasizing the importance of Shakib’s all-round capabilities to the team’s strategy.

Bangladesh’s cricket schedule for 2024 includes eight Test matches across four series against Pakistan, India, South Africa, and the West Indies, all part of the WTC cycle. Shakib, who has been limited in his appearances in the current WTC cycle, had previously left his availability for the later matches uncertain due to his involvement in leagues abroad.

The series against Pakistan will kick off on August 21, with Shakib expected to join the team’s preparations mid-month. His presence is deemed crucial as Bangladesh aims to strengthen its pace attack and overall team dynamics for the challenging fixtures ahead.
