President Zardari Commemorates Minorities’ Day with Commitment to Rights and Inclusion

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari marked Minorities’ Day on August 11, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to protecting the rights and freedoms of its minority communities, in line with the nation’s constitution and Islamic teachings.

According to Pakistan Peoples Party, in his official statement, President Zardari emphasized the various measures undertaken by the government to bolster the socio-economic status of minorities, including a 5% quota in government jobs and designated seats in the parliament. He celebrated the steps aimed at ensuring their political, social, and economic empowerment, such as financial aid, marriage grants, scholarships for education, and funds for maintaining worship places.

The President called on all sectors of society to promote interfaith harmony and educate the public about the rights of minorities, underlining the importance of tolerance, brotherhood, and unity for national strength. He assured minorities of the government’s dedication to safeguarding their rights and providing equal opportunities for their advancement, expressing confidence in their ongoing contributions to Pakistan’s development.
