Lahore, The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) organized a series of events to observe World Water Day, dedicated to the theme ‘Water for Peace.’ The day-long program highlighted the critical role of water in promoting peace and prosperity across the globe.
According to University of Engineering and Technology, the schedule for World Water Day began with the recitation of Tilawat-e-Quran, followed by the national anthem to instill a sense of national pride and solidarity among the participants. The event officially opened with the host’s welcome, leading into a lineup of distinguished speakers including Prof. Dr. Asif Ali Qaisar and Prof. Dr. Noor Muhammad Khan, who addressed the significance of water management and conservation in the context of engineering and development.
The event also featured a talk by Mr. Ghufraan Ahmad, Managing Director of WASA, who provided insight into current water management strategies and challenges. A riddle session added an interactive element to the day, encouraging participants to engage with water-related facts and questions.
A panel discussion on the topic of water scarcity allowed experts to delve deeper into issues affecting water availability and the implications for global peace. The event also included a poster and video competition, with an award ceremony to celebrate the creative efforts of participants in spreading awareness about water conservation.
The commemoration concluded with closing remarks by the Vice-Chancellor and the distribution of souvenirs, marking the end of a day filled with activities designed to educate and inspire action towards the sustainable management of water resources.
