Islamabad, On the occasion of Kashmir Day, Asif Ali Zardari, former President of Pakistan and President of the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians, highlighted the plight of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, describing it as the world’s largest prison due to the ongoing human rights violations. Zardari’s message emphasized the need for global judicial intervention to deliver justice to the region and ensure its inhabitants’ democratic rights to freedom.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, Zardari recalled the efforts of the late Benazir Bhutto, who, as Prime Minister, represented Occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s political leadership at the United Nations. He also praised the current Foreign Minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, for bringing international attention to the brutalities inflicted by the Modi administration in the region. The former president underscored the importance of ending the Indian occupation for establishing lasting peace in South Asia.
Zardari called upon international human rights organizations to vocalize their opposition to the injustices faced by the Kashmiri people and supported the call for a plebiscite, aligning with the PPP’s longstanding policy of political and moral backing for Kashmir’s democratic struggle. His message reaffirms the party’s commitment to the Kashmiri cause and its demand for their right to self-determination.
