Islamabad, In a significant move ahead of the 2024 general elections, Senator Sherry Rehman, the Vice President of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), officially launched the party’s manifesto on Saturday. Titled “Chuno Nai Soch Ko,” the manifesto presents a detailed plan for inclusive development and transformative change, with a focus on economic growth, social justice, and addressing the needs of vulnerable populations.
According to Pakistan Peoples Party, Senator Rehman emphasized the need for a departure from traditional politics and policies, underscoring the manifesto’s commitment to creating employment opportunities, prioritizing economic gains based on social justice, and supporting the most vulnerable segments of society. She highlighted the manifesto’s goals of inclusivity and transformation, steering Pakistan away from divisive politics and towards a future of unified progress.
Senator Rehman further articulated the PPP’s approach to inclusive economic growth, stating that the party aims to mobilize resources fairly, ensuring benefits reach all levels of society. The manifesto commits to improving living standards, addressing food and water insecurity, job creation, and enhancing public social services. Rehman pointed out the importance of addressing both chronic systemic issues and emerging global challenges that could affect Pakistan’s economy and social structure.
In her address, she outlined various programs under the manifesto, such as initiatives for food insecurity, healthcare accessibility, social safety net expansion, and specific projects like the youth card (Jawan Mustaqbil), support for farmers (Khushal Kisan), and laborers (Mazdoor ko Mehnat ka Sila). The manifesto also emphasizes giving resilient homes and ownership, particularly to women, as part of the party’s commitment to social protection and empowerment.
Rehman stressed the PPP’s Ten-Point Economic Agenda, launched earlier in the campaign by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, as the core of the party’s strategy. This agenda addresses the immediate economic challenges facing Pakistan, including inflation and social distress, and outlines plans for harnessing clean energy and diversifying the manufacturing base to boost value-added exports.
The manifesto reflects a shift towards a new style of politics, focusing on serving all Pakistanis rather than specific party supporters. Rehman concluded her remarks by emphasizing the need for political will and public consensus to implement these changes and reboot Pakistan’s growth and governance for a better future.
