Lahore, In an exciting finale at the Rising Punjab Games Badminton Championship, the Lahore division girls’ team emerged victorious against Faisalabad in the Women’s Team Event, while the Rawalpindi boys’ team won the Men’s Team Event. Both matches were held at the Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall.
According to Sports Board Punjab, the Lahore team triumphed over Faisalabad with a close score of 2-1 in the Women’s Team Event final. The match saw Laiba Masoud of Lahore winning the first singles match, followed by Faisalabad bouncing back in the doubles. However, Lahore clinched the title with Amal Muneeb’s victory in the second singles match. The Men’s Team Event saw Rawalpindi outplaying Faisalabad in straight sets, securing their championship title.
Director General Sports Punjab, Dr. Asif Tufail, extended his congratulations to both the Lahore and Rawalpindi teams for their achievements in the final matches. He also emphasized Sports Board Punjab’s commitment to continuing such competitive sports events to discover talented athletes in various games.
The Rising Punjab Games Badminton Championship is part of Sports Board Punjab’s innovative Annual Sports Calendar Programme, marking it as the first sports event of its kind. The program aims to identify and nurture talent in different sports disciplines across Punjab.
The Women’s Team Event final results showed Lahore defeating Faisalabad 2-1, with significant contributions from players like Laiba Masoud and Amal Muneeb. Similarly, in the Men’s Team Event final, Rawalpindi’s Raja Zulqarnain and Raja Hasnanin played pivotal roles in their victory over Faisalabad.
Additionally, the Rising Punjab Games Football Championship also saw Lahore and Faisalabad division football teams advancing to the title clash after winning their respective semi-final matches at Punjab Stadium. Faisalabad defeated Bahawalpur 3-0, while Lahore won against Sargodha 2-0 in penalty shootouts.
