Lahore, The first-ever coordination meeting of Islamic universities, along with subsidiary, specialized, and affiliated institutions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), was convened at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah on January 16, 2024. This significant gathering aimed to discuss the role of universities in shaping the future of societies, particularly within the OIC member states.

According to University of Management and Technology, H.E. Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, the OIC Secretary-General, highlighted in his address the essential role of universities in societal development. He emphasized that these institutions are pivotal in advancing education and scientific research, thereby contributing significantly to community progress. The Secretary-General underscored the influence of universities in molding young minds, who are the future pillars of society.
