Lahore, Sirajul Haq, the Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, has emphasized the need for adherence to the constitution, law, and democratic principles to navigate the current political challenges in Pakistan. He stressed the importance of constitutional articles for a corruption-free political environment and criticized the longstanding reliance on non-meritocratic practices in national politics.
According to Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Sirajul Haq, in a statement issued from Mansurah, highlighted the detrimental impact of political corruption and the misuse of public resources by those in power. He pointed out that the Pakistani political scene has long been dominated by familial power and personal interests over the republic and party ideologies. Haq lamented the lack of political training academies and mechanisms within political parties, leading to a decline in political discourse and the prevalence of corruption.
Haq criticized former ruling parties for fostering negative practices in politics and condemned the way politicians have accumulated wealth while neglecting the basic needs of the people. He referenced various scandals like the Panama Leaks, Pandora Papers, and Tosha Khana to illustrate the corruption of past rulers. The consequences of such corruption, he noted, are evident in the country’s current economic struggles, including inflation, unemployment, and poverty.
The Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami also called for the electorate to evaluate the performance and capabilities of political parties in the upcoming elections. He presented Jamaat-e-Islami as a viable option, citing their revolutionary manifesto focused on national development, elimination of VIP culture, and corruption. The party promises to implement an Islamic economic system, ensure fair resource distribution, and ban the usury system.
Haq emphasized that Jamaat-e-Islami is a democratic party committed to the rule of law and represents the people’s interests. He stated that the party regularly holds elections, has an effective worker training system, and believes in empowering the youth. By bringing educated, ordinary people into the assemblies, Jamaat-e-Islami aims to address the issues of workers and farmers effectively.
As the country approaches the elections, Haq urged the public to support Jamaat-e-Islami, symbolized by the scales, to lay the foundation for an Islamic Welfare Pakistan. He concluded by emphasizing that those against the rule of law are enemies of the country and its people.
