Islamabad, Professor Dr. Samina Malik, Rector of the International Islamic University (IIU), has issued directives for the provision of top-priority medical facilities for university students, emphasizing the importance of high-quality healthcare services on campus.
According to International Islamic University Islamabad, during a visit to the newly constructed medical center at IIU, along with Acting President Prof. Dr. Abdul Raheman, the Rector reviewed its operationalization, utilization of the new facilities, and overall performance. This visit, as reported by the International Islamic University Islamabad, was part of the infrastructural reforms initiated by IIUI President Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, aligning with the university’s new strategic plan.
Dr. Wakeel Ahmed, the In-Charge of the Medical Centre, briefed the Rector on the services available in the new building. This includes laboratory facilities, the number of beds, and the daily patient visitation. The new medical center boasts 16 beds, with 4 specifically dedicated to emergency cases. Dr. Wakeel also informed that requests for essential equipment like X-ray machines, ECG devices, and other radiology tools have been submitted, with plans to equip the center with these in the near future.
Rector Malik stressed the importance of prioritizing student facilitation and directed the installation of a complaint box to address student issues urgently. This box will be monitored by her office to ensure swift action on any concerns raised. She also revealed plans for a separate, well-equipped medical facility for the female campus as part of the university’s future developments.
Further, the Rector took a keen interest in the psychological counseling center, examining the availability of medicines, and reviewing laboratory charges and services. She emphasized the need for maintaining cleanliness and a hygienic environment within the medical center to ensure the well-being of students and staff.
This initiative reflects IIUI’s commitment to enhancing the health and wellness facilities available to its students, ensuring a supportive and well-equipped academic environment.
