Islamabad, The National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) held a Certificate Award Ceremony on November 7, 2023, at its PWD Campus, to honor the accomplishments of its faculty and young officers. The event recognized the successful completion of various training programs aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of NUMS faculty and staff.
According to National University of Medical Sciences, the ceremony marked the conclusion of two significant training programs conducted by the university. The first program was a series of three-day workshops titled “Curriculum Planning and Implementation,” held from July 5 to August 9, 2023. These workshops trained 70 faculty members from various departments of NUMS, including the Departments of Public Health, Nutrition and Dietetics, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Psychology, and Biological Sciences.
In addition to the faculty development workshops, the ceremony also celebrated the completion of the Certified University Management Training Program (UMTP Batch-II). This six-month program, conducted from August 2021 to January 2022, was designed to induct and train young talent at NUMS. It included extensive academic training and on-the-job training in various university directorates. Initially, 27 candidates were inducted as UMT Officers (UMTOs), of whom 13 successfully completed the two-year program, and one left NUMS. Based on their performance over 24 months, 12 of these officers had their employment extended to continue their contributions to NUMS.
The Certificate Award Ceremony was graced by Maj Gen Farrukh Saeed, HI (M), (Retd), Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academics), as the Chief Guest. He expressed his pleasure at the efforts made by the NUMS Department of Health Professions Education (NDHPE) for faculty development and applauded the NUMS Center for Lifelong Learning (NCL) for organizing such important events. He also encouraged the young officers receiving their certificates, highlighting them as the promising future of NUMS.
The event also recognized the efforts of the NDHPE faculty and Team NCL for their contributions to NUMS faculty development. Certificates were awarded to NDHPE Facilitators and NCL Organizers as tokens of appreciation. The ceremony concluded with the chief guest distributing Training Completion Certificates to the 12 successful young officers of UMTP (Batch-II).
