Islamabad, The Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) held its biannual Central Executive Council meeting in Islamabad on December 23-24, under the chairmanship of Central President Dr. Abdul Aziz Memon. This pivotal meeting brought together elected members, including provincial presidents, the women wing president, and department heads from across Pakistan, to deliberate on various organizational matters.
According to Pakistan Islamic Medical Association, the two-day meeting served as a vital platform for reviewing PIMA’s wide array of activities and ongoing projects. The agenda covered several key areas, including dawah and tarbiah initiatives, continued medical education, doctors’ advocacy, health awareness campaigns, and medical relief projects. A significant part of the meeting was dedicated to assessing the progress of these initiatives and discussing strategies for their effective implementation and expansion.
A notable outcome of the meeting was the passing of a resolution expressing concern over the establishment of a Task Force on Medical Education and Patient Care by the Central Government. The members of PIMA deemed this step as unconstitutional, especially under the Caretaker Government.
The meeting was crucial for providing an in-depth evaluation of PIMA’s progress, identifying challenges, and devising future strategies to achieve its multifaceted objectives. Discussions also focused on further planning to ensure the continued success and impact of PIMA’s initiatives in the healthcare sector, emphasizing their commitment to enhancing medical services and advocacy in Pakistan.
