Karachi, The Pasban Democratic Party has voiced strong support for students affected by the MD CAT exams, emphasizing the need for justice and the exposure and punishment of those involved in the alleged paper leak. Altaf Shakoor, Chairman of the Pasban Democratic Party, participated in a protest demonstration and addressed the students, highlighting the organization’s commitment to promoting and upholding merit, especially in the realm of education.
According to Pasban Democratic Party, the party has been actively involved in various movements advocating for educational justice and meritocracy. They have supported students in their struggles against the National Testing Service (NTS) and aided SM Law College students in securing their rights. The party has also been vocal in cases like those of Constable Tania Khaskheli and Nazeem Jokhio, demonstrating its stance against injustice in various sectors.
Shakoor criticized the deteriorating condition of the education system in Sindh, particularly after the 18th amendment when education became a provincial matter. He accused the ruling party, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), and the traditional landowning class (Wadira Shahi) of compromising the quality of education due to vested interests. The Pasban Democratic Party views the situation in Sindh as a stark contrast to improvements seen in other provinces and condemns the damage done to education through the quota system and alleged mismanagement.
The party’s stance is that the issues faced by students in the MD CAT exams, including the alleged paper leak, should be addressed and resolved fairly. They advocate for the protection of medical and engineering fields from the quota system and corruption, emphasizing that education in Sindh should not be compromised any further. The Pasban Democratic Party is determined to prevent further deterioration of the educational system in Sindh and calls for educational reforms based on merit and fairness as per the constitution of Pakistan.
