Karachi, Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) has inaugurated the first integrated tuberculosis (TB) site in Sindh, aimed at providing comprehensive care for patients suffering from tuberculosis, hepatitis B, C, and HIV. The significant event took place at the Ojha Institute of Chest Diseases in Karachi.
According to Dow University of Health Sciences, the inauguration was led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saeed Qureshi. The integrated site is a pioneering initiative in the region, offering free treatment for TB and other infectious diseases under one roof, thus streamlining patient care and improving access to healthcare services.
Director of the Ojha Institute of Chest Diseases, Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed, welcomed the distinguished guests and professionals at the event. He acknowledged the hard work and dedication of his team, including Dr. Ghulam Murtaza Soho, Dr. Niaz Hussain Soomro, Dr. Fatima Faseeh, Dr. Farzana Batul, and other key team members, in achieving this significant milestone.
The event was attended by several notable health professionals and officials. Dr. Nazli Hussain, Pro Vice-Chancellor of DUHS, Prof. Dr. Zeba Haque, Principal of DIMC, and representatives from various health organizations, including the Communicable Disease Control Sindh (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and Yasmeen Trust, were present. These professionals have played a vital role in combating communicable diseases in the region.
