Afghan Education Officials Explore Bilateral Cooperation with IIUI

Islamabad, 17 Oct 2023:An official delegation from Afghanistan, led by Dr. Nazar Muhammad Irfan, Director of Foreign Affairs and Scholarships at the Ministry of Higher Education, Afghanistan, met with representatives of the International Islamic University (IIU) on Tuesday. Their discussions centered around potential bilateral educational cooperation and included engagements with Afghan students currently studying at IIUI.

Comprising the delegation were Dr. Rafiullah Ata, Chancellor of Afghan International Islamic University (AIIU), Mr. Abdul Hai Kaiwaan, Dean of Engineering Faculty AIIU, and Mr. Nisar Ahmed Zahid, Dean of Agriculture Faculty AIIU. They were accompanied by Mr. Jehanzeb, Project Director HEC, and Mr. Waqar Khan, Project Manager, HEC.

Director Academics and Examination at IIUI, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khan, provided an in-depth briefing regarding the university’s profile, vision, and future ambitions. Notably, the two sides explored the potential for faculty exchanges and collaborative research programs. Further discussions on knowledge-sharing and training projects were agreed upon for the future.

Dr. Nazar Muhammad Irfan conveyed the Afghan government’s prioritization of education and its commitment to enhancing higher education. He mentioned the Afghan government’s interest in welcoming skilled faculty members to contribute to newly established departments in diverse educational sectors.

Chancellor of AIIU, Dr. Rafiullah Ata, emphasized the visit’s goal of fostering institutional relationships with leading Pakistani universities. He recognized IIUI’s esteemed reputation across the Muslim world, noting the significant number of IIUI Afghan alumni in prominent positions within Afghanistan. The delegation expressed satisfaction with the quality of education provided to Afghan students at IIUI, emphasizing the value of this collaboration for broadening their exposure.

The meeting was graced by Dean Arabic Dr. Fazal ullah, Dean of Faculty of Shariah and Law Dr. Attaullah Faizi, Students Advisor male Dr. Hafiz Ghufran Ali khan, and Afghan students from IIU. Concluding the session, Dr. Fazlullah expressed gratitude towards the Afghan delegation for their keen interest in IIUI and mutual educational cooperation, highlighting IIUI’s commitment to promoting quality education globally.
