Zhejiang University Delegation Explores Research Collaborations with IIUI

Islamabad, 17 Oct 2023:A seven-member delegation from Zhejiang University, China, led by Prof. Dr. Feng Ying, a distinguished scientist in Environmental Sciences, and Dr. Sun Caixia from the Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, recently visited the Salman Aba Alkhail, Center for International Relations and Business Studies (SA-CIRBS) at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). The meeting, held at the council hall of the university’s New Campus, emphasized the potential for enhanced research collaboration between the two institutions.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, Vice President (Research and Education) at IIUI, introduced the Chinese delegation to the university’s various research activities, especially the ongoing initiatives at SA-CIRBS and CAEPE. Underscoring IIUI’s commitment to academic collaboration and research excellence, Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed presented a university shield to the delegation from Zhejiang University. Dr. Ikram Ullah, In-Charge of CIRBS, delved deeper into the research endeavours of SA-CIRBS, sharing its structure, faculty details, and activities. Prof. Feng Ying reciprocated by presenting the ongoing research projects at Zhejiang University. The dialogue culminated with a proposal for a collaborative research initiative between the two universities, encompassing student exchanges and faculty visits. Additionally, the prospect of a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for future collaboration was broached.

During the session, two SA-CIRBS students unveiled their Ph.D. research proposals. The Zhejiang University scientists offered constructive feedback, paving the way for enhanced research outcomes. Both parties also discussed potential areas of collaborative research.
