Karachi, October 06, 2023 (PPI-OT):In a meaningful observance of World Rabies Day, Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital in Muzaffargarh orchestrated an impactful awareness event. The centerpiece of this event was a public awareness walk, designed to educate the community on the dangers of rabies and the vital importance of timely medical intervention.
Rabies, a deadly viral disease often transmitted through the bites of infected animals, especially dogs, remains a significant concern. World Rabies Day stands as a global initiative to raise awareness about rabies prevention and management, ultimately striving to eliminate this preventable disease.
Dr. Rashid Kamal, Head of the Infection Control Department, addressed the gathered crowd, shedding light on crucial aspects of rabies. He stressed the need for awareness and immediate action in the event of rabies exposure, emphasizing that Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital in Muzaffargarh is well-equipped to provide rabies vaccines for potential cases.
Dr. Asif Yaseen, Incharge of the Emergency Department, provided valuable insights into precautionary measures following a rabid animal bite. He emphasized the importance of thorough washing of the affected area with soap for a minimum of 10-15 minutes and seeking immediate medical attention at the nearest hospital. Dr. Asif Yaseen strongly discouraged the use of local remedies, as they can have severe consequences for both the patient and their contacts.
The event also witnessed the participation of esteemed individuals, including Dr. M. Hussain Gillani, Mr. Usama Riaz (Admin Manager), Syed Kashif (DM Administration), and various department coordinators and managers who actively contribute to the hospital’s mission in serving the local community.
