PNS Holds Students’ Convention On the Peaceful Use of Nuclear Technology at IIUI

Islamabad, May 23, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Department of Physics, Faculty of Sciences of International Islamic University Islamabad hosted the Students’ Convention on Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Technology which was organized in collaboration with the Pakistan Nuclear Society (PNS). The convention aimed to educate and inspire students about the advancements and opportunities in the field of nuclear science and technology within the country.

Eminent scientists from various institutions shared their invaluable insights and experiences during the convention, motivating the students with their remarkable achievements despite limited resources and no foreign assistance. The experts’ lifelong dedication to the nuclear field served as an inspiration to the aspiring young scientists in attendance. The convention included an engaging question and answer session, moderated by Mr. Waqar A. Butt, the Vice President of PNS. Students enthusiastically participated, posing thoughtful and insightful questions that were met with well-reasoned responses from the panellists.

Additionally, Professor Dr. Farida Tahir, professor at COMBATS University, shed light on the upcoming International Young Physicists Tournament (IYPT), fondly known as the “Physics World Cup.” This prestigious competition will be hosted for the first time in Pakistan in over three decades, taking place at Kohsar University in Murree in July 2023. Students were encouraged to seize this remarkable opportunity to showcase their talents on an international platform.

The convention also provided a platform for student representatives to share their thoughts and suggestions regarding PNS initiatives. Tahir Taj from the International Islamic University, Madeeha Bibi from Hazara University, and Hamza Khan from Air University, Islamabad, eloquently expressed their gratitude and offered helpful suggestions, emphasizing the importance of aligning PNS activities with student aspirations.

In recognition of their exceptional abilities, Ms. Aysha Yasmeen from the International Islamic University Islamabad, Ms. Ishrat Fatima from the University of the Punjab, and Mr. Faraz Ahmed Mahar from the University of Sindh, Jamshoro, emerged as the top three winners of the PNS speech competition on “Global Warming and its Effects.” Their articulate presentations captivated the audience and highlighted their deep understanding of the subject matter.

Furthermore, Mr. Muhammad Haroon Farooqi from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad, received the second prize in the article writing competition. A total of 25 students competed in the speech competition, while 49 students demonstrated their writing prowess by participating in the article writing contest.

The convention concluded with profound remarks by Professor Dr. Muhammad Irfan Khan, the Dean of the Faculty of Sciences at the International Islamic University Islamabad, and a vote of thanks from Dr. Mohammad Mohsin, the General Secretary of PNS. Their closing words emphasized the significance of fostering innovation and exploration in the field of nuclear technology, encouraging students to pursue their passions and contribute to the nation’s progress.

The Students’ Convention on Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Technology organized by PNS and Physics Department of the university proved to be an enriching and enlightening experience for all attendees, leaving them inspired and eager to embark on their scientific journeys.

Professional Development Week

Karachi, May 23, 2023 (PPI-OT): Professional development programs are considered a prerequisite for the dynamic acquisition of skills, knowledge, and mind-set for graduating students. Also, to realize their strengths and potential before entering into their professional life. The main objective of these professional development programs is to bring together experts from industry and skill specialists to help the graduating students in achieving their future goals. Considering the importance of professional development for the future success of graduating students of BBA and MBA, the Department of Management Sciences SZABIST Islamabad arranged the professional development training week from 2nd May 2023 to 6th May 2023.

The objective was to develop an Entrepreneurial Mind-set; Workplace Ethics and Communication; Professional Behaviour and Ethics; Emotional Intelligent; CV writing and Mock Interviews. Dr. Iffat Rasool Associate Professor in collaboration with EDC organized the event.

Vice President (Administration and Finances) Visit Purchased Furniture Items in (Mega PC-1)

Islamabad, May 23, 2023 (PPI-OT): Prof. Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani, Vice President Administration and Finance (A and F) visited the furniture items purchased in (Mega PC-1) for distribution among faculties and new academic blocks by International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). The stock of purchased furniture items is placed in a store at Iqra College of Technology (ICT) of university.

During the inspection visit relevant officials from Purchase and Stores Department briefed the Vice President (A and F) and visiting team about the purchased furniture items. The Vice President was also accompanied by the Director, President Office, Dr. Ali Metab Alahmari, Mr. Noor Hussain, In-Charge (Finance) and other relevant officials of the university.

To ensure transparency and accountability, the Vice President (A and F) constituted a committee that will conduct a thorough inspection of the purchased furniture items under Mega PC-1. Vice President added that as per vision of the University President, commitment to work from all stakeholders of the university maintaining high standards and quality in all aspects of its operations should be the top priority.

Research workshop by Institute of Islamic Studies and Shariah (MYU)

Islamabad, May 23, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Institute of Islamic Studies and Shariah recently organized a ground-breaking Research Workshop in the university’s prestigious Auditorium. The event revolved around the captivating topic of shedding light on its significance in today’s world. We were honoured to have Dr. Khursheed Ahmed Saeedi, a renowned expert in Usuluddin (Islamic Studies) from IIUI, as the esteemed Guest Speaker. His profound knowledge and insights left the audience spellbound, enriching their understanding of the subject matter.

The workshop concluded with an engaging Questions and Answers session, where students eagerly interacted with Dr. Khursheed Ahmed Saeedi, discussing various aspects and gaining invaluable knowledge from his expertise. Irrigation Advisory Services 18 May 2023

Lahore, May 23, 2023 (PPI-OT): Participation in Stakeholders Consultative Meeting on Irrigation Advisory Services (IAS) held on Thursday, 18 May 2023 at PCRWR, Islamabad. PCRWR is disseminating its digital services to 20,000 farmers in 43 districts since 2017. Since then, PCRWR has worked tremendously for improving the technical aspects of IAS, which is now in a mature state to be disseminated to 100,000 farmers and beyond.

The council seeks the input from water experts in making the advisory SMS compatible to the needs of farmers registered by prestigious organization. Therefore, PCRWR organized a stakeholders consultative meeting for upscaling of its irrigation Advisory Services (IAS) held on Thursday, 18 May 2025 at PCRWR, HQ Islamabad. Dr. Toqeer Ahmed, Tenured Associate Professor represented CCRD, CUI and gave his input. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Chairman, PCRWR. Scientists from both public and private sectors participated in the said meeting.

Understanding of multiethnicity, multiculturalism among youth can promote tolerance; enhance national integration: Dr Fakhrul Islam

Islamabad, May 23, 2023 (PPI-OT): IPS’ Director Research and Academic Outreach Prof Dr Fakhrul Islam represented the Institute at the national consultation on ‘Promoting Narratives of Diversity, Inclusion, and Peace among Youth’, arranged by Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS) on 19 May 2023.

Presenting his views, Dr Islam said that unity in a multicultural society may be evolved from within its diversity, and that can be done by rectifying the misunderstandings that exist within different ethnic groups of the country due to certain biases, myths or misconceptions.

Islam advised to impart the knowledge of multicultural and multi-ethnic aspects of various regions of Pakistan to the youth, maintaining that this will promote tolerance, peace and national Integration among them. He further stressed upon the need of formulating a comprehensive youth policy synchronizing with the needs and aspirations of the country’s younger generation.
