Federal Minister Shazia Atta Marri says that Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari represented Pakistan at SCO like a statesman

Islamabad, May 06, 2023 (PPI-OT): Ms. Shazia Marri, Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety (PA and SS), Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and Spokesperson Pakistan People’s Party (Parliamentarian) said that Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has aptly represented Pakistan at Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Conference with the demeanor of a seasoned diplomat and statesman. Ms. Marri express her views through a press statement of Saturday afternoon.

The Minister said that during the meeting Pakistan’s foreign Minister unequivocally stated that Pakistan has been the worst victim of terrorism and this could be curbed through joint and concerted and collective measures only. Our foreign Minister also unscored that atrocity meted out the Muslim community in India. She noted that Indian foreign minister’s post conference press conference was a reflection of narrowmindedness of the Indian political leadership and said China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) which guarantees regional connective is like sour in the eyes of India.

Ms. Marri expressing her disappointment on India’s attitude said that India Foreign Minister as a host of the conference, should have put up a mature face but unfortunately, he could not do so. Indian foreign minister’s press conference was mainly targeted to appease the extremist of RSS, she continued.

She emphasized that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari highlighted Kashmir Cause during his stay in India and termed Kalboshan Yadav as terrorist while PTI leadership has been advocating his presence in Pakistan. He would have released him as well as he released Indian pilot Abhinandan in 2019. Voices Against Tobacco and Kiran Foundation Sign MOU to Promote Anti-Tobacco Advocacy

Karachi, May 06, 2023 (PPI-OT): Voices Against Tobacco (VAT), an initiative of Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Kiran Foundation this week. The MOU will facilitate anti-tobacco activities for marginalized youth and their parents in communities such as Lyari. With this partnership, VAT aims to expand the reach of its advocacy efforts against tobacco products and engage young people in taking proactive measures to eradicate their use.

Established in 2006, Kiran Foundation provides transformational education and holistic support in marginalized communities through an effective multi-tier framework, emphasizing prevention and intervention for mental health and emotional support for the family unit. In partnership with Kiran Foundation, VAT will work to further its aim of carrying out anti-tobacco activities amongst marginalized youth, thus empowering them and their families to avoid tobacco use and thereby lead a healthier, safer life.

Representatives of IHHN, including Dr. Abdul Bari, President of IHHN, and Dr. Saima Saeed, Director of the Lung Health program, met with the Kiran Foundation founder and team to sign the MOU and discuss further areas of collaboration.

“Traditional and novel tobacco products are a gateway for more harmful drugs, and with their increasing use, it becomes imperative to raise awareness and initiate preventive measures,” said Dr. Bari. “By working with Kiran Foundation, we aim to empower the youth to become advocates for their communities and push for greater regulations on tobacco and nicotine.”

In October 2022, VAT conducted a sensitization session at Kiran Foundation with over 60 students. The success of this session showed great potential for collaboration between VAT and KF. “Unwittingly many youngsters get involved in detrimental habits, creating a cycle of drug abuse and self-harm,” said Sabina Khatri, Founder of Kiran Foundation. “To break this cycle, it is necessary to take early preventative measures such as sensitization and counseling.”

VAT is an IHHN initiative aimed at creating a dialogue about the need for effective tobacco control measures in Pakistan. The initiative has launched a petition to ban the sale of all novel tobacco and nicotine products in Pakistan which has garnered 8,000+ signatures up-to-date, engaging with communities and youth to advocate for a cultural and economic change toward a tobacco-free future.

In the coming year, VAT will continue to raise awareness through advocacy and sensitization activities, having empowered more than 1,600 students to date. In association with partners such as Kiran Foundation, VAT will continue to engage youth to take proactive measures toward a tobacco-free Pakistan.

No change in Pakistan’s principled stand on the Kashmir issue: FM Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Karachi, May 06, 2023 (PPI-OT): Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has termed his India visit is successful and said that there has been no change in Pakistan’s principled stand on the Kashmir issue as well as bilateral relations with New Delhi, adding that he has presented Pakistan’s narrative on Indian soil. He also clarified that unless India withdraws the illegal unilateral move of August 2019, the meaningful talks are not possible between the two countries.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi on his return after attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Goa, Chairman PPP said that he highlighted the Kashmir cause on Indian soil, where a one-sided narrative about Kashmir was being propagated among the Indian people. “We responded to the false propaganda of BJP and RSS in the meeting,” he added.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that RSS and BJP have been trying to declare Muslims around the world as terrorists, adding, “If a Muslim lives in India, they call him a terrorist, and if a Pakistani is seen, he is also called a terrorist.” But when they make such allegations, and the son of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto is sitting in front of them, that is enough for them.

He said that on the ticket of Pakistan People’s Party, people from the Pakistani minority community become members of the national and provincial assemblies and also ministers, but he was surprised to know that the BJP in India does not allow any Muslim political leader to enter the assembly, adding that the minorities have equal rights in Pakistan.

Chairman PPP said that he did not meet the Prime Minister or the Foreign Minister during his visit to India, but met with the Foreign Ministers of all the other member countries of the SCO. He said that through his visit, he gave a message to the people of India and the new generation that peace should not be held hostage by the past. “I believe peace as the destination. If not today then tomorrow we will achieve that destination,” he hoped.

Replying a question, youngest foreign minister of Pakistan’s history said that false propaganda is spread in India, especially by the party represented by the foreign minister of India, adding, “By going there, we break their false propaganda.” He said that India’s narrative has been rejected, the world has seen how much Pakistan has sacrificed in war against terrorism. He said that when Bilawal Bhutto Zardari sits in front of them, their false narrative breaks. He added that when they try to give the impression that every Muslim is a terrorist so that they can win elections by spreading their propaganda, has been brusted.

In response to another question, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that fixing the head money for foreign minister of any country is not set by a political organization but by a terrorist organization. “We don’t want to fight terrorism because India tells us to, but we fight terrorism because Pakistanis are the most affected, and we are bearing the brunt of it,” he said.

In response to a question asked by the media regarding India-Pakistan bilateral relations, he said that if bilateral talks are held, a document comes at the end of which both we and India have to sign. But India has violated its bilateral agreements, international ambitions from one step, now there is distrust that if they can unilaterally violate the earlier mutual agreements, if the talks start now and the result of an agreement is reached, they will unilaterally violate it.

Foreign Minister said that everyone he met during the Goa Summit has appreciated the CPEC project, every SCO member except India appreciates the CPEC, Pakistan’s sacrifices against terrorists. The world has to deliver. He further said that we will have the chairmanship of SCO in the year 2026 and we will try to make India take such a decision through diplomatic efforts to participate in the meeting at that time. During the press conference of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also present.
