Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab organizes awareness programme at University of Education to protect youth from addiction of drugs and electronic gadgets 

Lahore, December 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):Expanding the awareness campaign against the ‘Addiction of Drugs and Electronic Gadgets’ among the young generation, Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab organized yet another programme at University of Education on Thursday.

Deputy Secretary Admin Liaquat Ali Bhatti, Director Youth Affairs Syed Umair Hassan, Assistant Director Youth Affairs Nazish Noor, Project Development Specialist Qasim Zia, Research Officer Sadia Pervaiz, officers of the Youth Affairs and Sports Department, professors and around 175 male and female students participated in the programme.

Addressing the programme, Deputy Secretary Admin Liaquat Ali Bhatti said that the Youth Affairs and Sports Department will continue to hold awareness programmes in other colleges and universities of the province to save the young boys and girls from the menace of drugs and electronic devices. “It is very important to spread awareness among young boys and girls about the serious harms of electronic devices and drug addiction.

Director Youth Affairs Syed Umair Hassan said that the Sports and Youth Affairs Department has taken many steps for the betterment of the youth. “Our youth must avoid the excessive use of technology and always try to use this facility for positive purposes instead of ruining their valuable time and energy in useless activities.”

Director Youth Affairs Syed Umair Hassan further said the growing usage of drugs and electronic gadgets among the youth is a matter of concern. “We should make collective and effective efforts in this regard without wasting any time,” he urged.

Research Officer Sadia Pervaiz highlighted the role of Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab for the eradication of addiction of drugs and electronic gadgets among the youth of the province. The management of University of Education played a key role in the successful holding of the awareness event.

Director Youth Affairs of University appreciated the valuable efforts of Youth Affairs and Sports Department Punjab for spreading awareness among the younger generation against the harmful use of drugs and electronic gadgets.

Deputy Secretary Admin Liaquat Ali Bhatti and Director Youth Affairs of University also exchanged souvenirs on this occasion. At the end of the programme, a large number of students participated in the question-answer session.

Seven gift bags were also distributed among students on this occasion. The students of University of Education also shared their views regarding the damages of drugs and excessive use of electronic devices such as laptops, mobile phones and computers etc.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi announces a bonus of Rs 3,000 for all Christian employees on Christmas 

Lahore, December 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said Christian community is an important part of our society; he expressed these views at a mega cake-cutting ceremony to express solidarity with Christian community on the eve of Christmas at National Hockey Stadium on Friday.

Director Sports Chand Perveen, Assistant Director Zahoor Ahmed, Zareena Waqar, Shaista Qaiser, Mohyuddin, Rehmatullah etc. were also present on this occasion. Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi cut a cake and wished merry Christmas to all Christians on this big occasion and announced a bonus of Rs 3,000 for all Christian employees.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi appreciated Christian community for rendering valuable contributions in the development of the sports. They also played a key role in the successful holding of 73rd Punjab Games. “All the members of Christian community are very patriotic and they have a significant role in the progress of country,” he added.

Pakistan’s international long range shooter Mohsin Nawaz calls on Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta and Director General Sports Punjab Mohammad Tariq Qureshi

Lahore, December 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan’s international long range shooter Mohsin Nawaz called on Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta and Director General Sports Punjab Mohammad Tariq Qureshi at Punjab Stadium on Wednesday. Additional Secretary Sports Malik Sanaullah and Director Admin Syed Umair Hassan were also present on this occasion.

The promotion of long range shooting in Pakistan was discussed in detail during the meeting. Secretary Sports Punjab Ehsan Bhutta also gave a shield to Mohsin Nawaz on this occasion. Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta and Director General Sports Punjab Mohammad Tariq Qureshi expressed their best wishes for Mohsin’s success in his next international long range shooting event.

Talking on this occasion, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta said Mohsin Nawaz is the pride of Pakistan. “Out of 7 international events, Mohsin Nawaz has won medals 5 times in South Africa and twice in America. He has clinched 25 medals including six gold, seven silver and 12 bronze medals in national championships and won 7 international medals including four gold, two silver and one bronze medals in international long range shooting competitions”.

Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Ehsan Bhutta said Mohsin has achieved great success through hard work and dedication, for which he deserved huge congratulations. “A long range shooting event will be organized in Punjab to bring out new shooting talent”. Director General Sports Punjab Mohammad Tariq Qureshi on this occasion said Mohsin Nawaz is a talented young man. “We will hold more long range shooting events to promote this game in Punjab”.

Mohsin Nawaz expressed his gratitude to Secretary Sports Punjab Ehsan Bhutta and DG Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi for extending valuable encouragement. He said that he is preparing for his next international long range shooting event scheduled to be held in South Africa in March 2023.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi along with other officials inspects different sports venues in Nishtar Park Sports Complex 

Lahore, December 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi along with other officials visited different sports venues to inspect the ongoing development work at Nishtar Park Sports Complex on Wednesday. Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi also announced plans to build several new sports facilities in Nishtar Park Sports Complex.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi was accompanied by Project Director PMU Qaiser Raza, Deputy Director Planning Rauf Bajwa and PMU Department officers during his inspection visit. Project Director PMU Qaiser Raza and Deputy Director Planning Rauf Bajwa thoroughly briefed Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi about all the under-construction sports venues.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi directed all the officials concerned to complete all the under-construction sports projects as early as possible. First of all, Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi visited Punjab Stadium and reviewed the expansion work and issued instructions to officers concerned to complete the remaining construction work as early as possible.

Then Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi visited Sports Board Punjab’s cricket academy adjacent to Punjab Stadium. He announced plans to construct two new pitches for women cricketers in the academy under the Punjab Cricket Grounds Scheme. After this Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi visited the site of Hockey High Performance Centre and presided over a meeting there to discuss different details of this state-of-the-art facility.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi also announced plans to prepare an ‘Akhara’ for Desi Kushti adjacent to the boxing arena. An Elite Training Centre will also be built near the parking area besides constructing a Body Contact Centre near NPSC Gymnasium Hall and Table Tennis Centre in Nishtar Park Sports Complex.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi also took a round of under-construction Squash Complex and inspected the pace of work. He ordered the officials concerned to expedite the rapidity of construction work. He said after completion, it will be Pakistan’s first world class squash venue where Pakistan can host international squash events.

After this Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi also visited the site of Sports Board Punjab’s first ever Sports Medicine Clinic. He said this Sports Medicine Clinic will be the first one in the history of the country. “Renowned medical expert Dr Amir Aziz and other medical officers will be there for quality treatment of all male and female athletes who got injuries before, during and after sports competitions,” he added.

Pakistan Desi Kushti Federation delegation calls on Vice-Chairman Sports Board Punjab Malik Nadeem Abbas Bara and Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi 

Lahore, December 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):A delegation of Pakistan Desi Kushti Federation (PDKF) under the leadership of Nadeem Pehlwan called on Vice-Chairman Sports Board Punjab Malik Nadeem Abbas Bara and Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi at National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.

Nadeem Pehlwan also presented a souvenir of Sher-e-Lahore Dangal to Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi on this occasion. The promotion of desi kushti among younger generation across the province was discussed at length during the meeting. Tayyab Raza Pehlwan, who recently won Sher-e-Lahore Dangal, Sajid Hussain Awan Pehlwan, Haji Khalid Pappu Pehlwan, Bilal Awan Pehlwan, Naveed Pehlwan and Latif Pehlwan were also present on this occasion.

Talking on this occasion, Vice-Chairman Sports Board Punjab Malik Nadeem Abbas Bara said that desi kushti is quite popular in Pakistan especially in Punjab province. “Keeping this factor in view Sports Board Punjab is organizing competitions of desi kushti regularly to provide sufficient playing opportunities to emerging wrestlers of the province,” he added.

Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that Sports Board Punjab has always taken all possible measures for the promotion of all sports disciplines including desi kushti in all parts of the province. “We recently organized historic Rustam-e-Pakistan Dangal in Taunsa for the promotion of desi kushti in far flung areas of the province,” he added.
