Jiyalas determined to thwart Khan’s efforts to undermine democracy

Karachi, November 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chairman Pakistan People’s Party, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari addressing a press conference at Zardari House Islamabad, said that a man was imposed on the country and the people had to tolerate him as their Prime Minister. This has adverse impacts not only on the political environment but Pakistan and its democracy. The harm that was done to the progress made between 2008 and 2013 is before everyone.

The Pakistani nation is bearing the burden of the harm that was inflicted on the country and its foreign and economic policies. The economy of the country and the world at large is suffering due to recession, Covid-19, Ukraine-Russia conflict and Pakistan is one of the countries most impacted by climate change unfortunately. However, Pakistan’s economy was so heavily impacted by its own PM that it was on the brink of default. Pakistan’s standing internationally was not harmed because of its policy or people but the ego and character of a PM. The common man is carrying that burden.

Imran Khan’s long march does not have a democratic goal. He has only done politics on the shoulders of undemocratic forces. When the institutional decision was taken for Pakistan’s institutions to transition towards a constitutional role instead of a controversial one, which was welcomed by everyone, some characters and lobbies were threatened. A constitutional role would mean that their political business would come to an end. Imran Khan is making efforts to sabotage this transition by any means ever since. Imran Khan and similar politicians feel that their political future is linked to the institution’s controversial role.

This is the reason why Imran Khan made every possible try to sabotage the first ever successful democratic and constitutional no-confidence motion at a time when the institutions were apolitical. He said “I am on the record to have said that the government of the time threatened us with either a martial law or new elections”. Then, to hinder the transition, Imran Khan deliberately tried to create a constitutional crisis by abrogating the House. They either wanted a martial law or new elections. That effort fortunately proved to be unsuccessful.

Then, Imran Khan tried again in May, and burned the city of Islamabad. Imran also attempted to sabotage the IMF deal that was being negotiated to emerge from the very economic crisis that he himself had left the country in. He tried to convince the institution that their democratic experiment, the transition from a controversial to constitutional role was failing and that either martial law or fresh elections were the option. That attempt too was unsuccessful.

When we were initiating the no-confidence motion, we insisted that there would be no sit-in or violence. When it was suggested by our allies, we opposed it as to not pave the way for a third force. Foreign minister said that when all the political parties of the country were trying to remove Khan through a constitutional process, Khan stooped so low as to offer a lifetime extension. That offer was rejected. The rejection was an example of prioritising the country and institution over oneself.

Now, we are sending a message to Imran Khan and the undemocratic forces. Stop playing this game. Neither Pakistan, nor its people can afford this. The precedent you are setting now is very dangerous for Pakistan’s future.

Chairman Bilawal said that if ‘Haqeeqi Azaadi’ and democracy are Imran Khgan’s goals, if he does not want to thwart the transition to a constitutional role, then why has Mr. Khan chosen the very weak in which the appropriate files must move to the appropriate ministries for the nomination of the new COAS? Why has Pindi been chosen if the goal is not to push Pakistan towards dictatorship? This makes it obvious that the goal of Imran Khan’s backers is to make this legal and constitutional process controversial and to play with the country’s destiny once again. We cannot afford such politics for the sake of one man’s ego.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that It is my demand from Imran Khan to let this process conclude in a constitutional and legal manner. He can then hold a gathering in Rawalpindi or Islamabad as he wishes and can keep repeating his demands. Imran Khan should not believe that he is fooling anyone by orchestrating this drama during this week in Pindi. “Everyone knows what your goal is, which is to play with the country once again”.

This is Khan’s last-ditch effort to sabotage the democratic transition. He is attempting to threaten us again with the same threat as he did before. PPP and its Jiyalas have made such conspiracies unsuccessful before and will do so again. “We are making this demand from you because we are all politicians and will do politics in Pakistan. Pakistan will only prosper when we bid farewell to such politics and games that are toying with the country’s system”.

Responding to questions, Chairman Bilawal said that in 2014, President Xi’s visit to Pakistan was unfortunately delayed because Khan prioritised his ego over it. The burden again was carried by the Pakistani people and not Khan. As the Foreign Minister, I cannot say that the Saudi Crown Prince, Muhammad Bin Salman’s visit was delayed solely to the situation caused by Khan. His visit to other countries was also delayed but I believe that the political situation in the country at the time might have played a role in the decision as well.

Chairman Bilawal said that the purpose of the news conference was to inform the people of the conspiracy that is being done to make a constitutional process controversial. He appealed to Imran Khan to come to his senses. As far as legal action against Imran is concerned, the law and interior ministries can answer.

As far as the appointment of the Army Chief is concerned, it is legally the prerogative of the Prime Minister. The country will accept the appointment made by the PM. The PPP is of the same view and will support the constitutional and legal appointment made by the PM.

I do not have to the chair a political party or be the foreign minister to be able to see what Imran Khan is trying to do. It is obvious to everyone that Imran Khan is trying to make a constitutional process controversial. Imran Khan can avoid all of this by announcing an appropriate date for the long march that does not clash with the appointment of the Army Chief. Replying to a question he said that when we wanted to go to Pindi, there was no such appointment or process taking place. We wanted to hold the 27th December gathering in the very city where Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was martyred.

Imran Khan is mistaken to think that he will get any political benefit by harming the democracy of the country. History is witness to how whenever democracy is attacked, only undemocratic forces benefit.
Owing to the situation caused by the floods, the Party made the decision to celebrate the Party’s Foundation Day district-wise. A centralised function is not taking place.

Floods are the priorities. “I cancelled my tour of Europe when no one could predict just how worse the situation was going to get. All my trips including that to the United Nations were to raise awareness regarding the situation. If this issue is not addressed and resolved, the economic impact will be felt throughout the country. When Covid-19 hit, we prioritised the country over our politics”.

As far as President Alvi’s character is concerned, he unconstitutionally tried to dissolve the assembly. This is his last chance to let everything take place according to the law and constitution. If he tries to create an issue, he would have to face the consequences.

Answering a question regarding the JIT formed by the Punjab government on the attack on Imran Khan, Chairman Bilawal said that even if there is not a federal representative in it, the investigation should take place in an unbiased manner. If it is conducted in a fair manner, then everyone would accept it. If politics is done here too, then it would too be an attempt at making things controversial. Answering another question, Chairman Bilawal said that he does not wish to see Pakistani politics take the route it is taking now. He does not wish for a politician to say ‘Zindabad’ for one general and ‘Murdabad’ for another.

As far as Governor KP is concerned, it was to go to the ANP and the PDM should think whether not forming consensus over this would give an advantage to Imran Khan. As far as the Governor’s rule in Punjab is concerned, I would like to advise Imran Khan to not compel us to make a decision that we do not want to take. Chairman Bilawal said that he has confidence in PM Shehbaz and his economic team when it comes to helping the country emerge from this financial turmoil.

Karachi, November 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan People’s Party Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that our most valuable asset is our children and it is the primary responsibility of the government and society to provide them with all the necessary facilities so that They can utilize their skills to the maximum for the benefit of future generations. In his message issued on the occasion of International Children’s Day, the PPP Chairman said that education, health and a clean and peaceful environment are essential for the better healthy development of children. He said that the children of today are the leaders of tomorrow, whose minds need to be nurtured with tolerance and harmony.

He further said that every positive step taken in the interest of children will be part of the message of love and compassion from our generation to our children’s children. The foreign minister said that Pakistan is definitely facing many problems on the internal and external front, but despite this, we are the first priority should be the future of our children, because Pakistan is connected to them. He said that our children have yet to live their whole lives, while we have passed a little, a lot or most of our lives. He pointed out that almost a quarter of the polio cases were being reported from Pakistan alone when the martyred Ms. Benazir Bhutto started the polio vaccination program during her second tenure as Prime Minister. Today we are close to becoming a polio-free country.

This is called visionary leadership, while the monumental projects introduced by Shaheed Ms. Benazir Bhutto to restore maternal and child health care will always be appreciated, but especially Pakistani mothers will definitely appreciate it. The PPP Chairman said that Sindh is at the forefront in terms of legislation for children, women and other vulnerable sections of the society, but other provinces should also take similar measures.

Should be followed. Equality and equal opportunities are inalienable rights of every child. He added that we must ensure that every child has access to better education and health facilities. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari emphasized on paying special attention to the flood-affected children, saying that one-third of the 33 million people affected by floods and heavy rains in the past months are children. About 19,000 schools have been damaged as a result of the climate disaster.

The foreign minister said that he has emphasized the importance of climate justice at international forums as it is Pakistan that has been affected the most by climate change. He said that we are fighting the case of the entire world suffering from climate disasters in the future. The PPP Chairman expressed his commitment that his party will continue the projects and schemes for the betterment and welfare of children on a priority basis in the future as well. 000 schools have been damaged.

We will support whoever the Prime Minister appoints Army Chief, Chairman Pakistan People’s Party and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Karachi, November 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):History is in front of everyone, Imran Khan was imposed on the country, foreign policy and Pakistan were damaged in the last four years, and the entire burden is being borne by the people of Pakistan. Facing disaster, the former prime minister’s decision was so damaged that it was in danger of defaulting.

Relations from the Middle East, Europe to America were damaged, Imran Khan’s so-called long march has no democratic purpose, Imran Khan put the entire politics on the shoulders of undemocratic forces, because of one person’s ego, and the country was destroyed. The damage was done. The Foreign Minister said that I am sending a message to Khan and all these forces to stop playing this game. Pakistan and the people cannot afford this game. If true freedom and democracy is the goal, then why did you choose to announce the Long March on the same week?

Why was Pindi chosen for the long march? Khan Sahib’s aim is once again the destiny of the country it is Imran Khan’s right to play games, politics, protest, but let this appointment be completed in a constitutional and legal manner, then Bismillah. Bilawal Bhutto said that if you will stage a spectacle in Pindi this week, then everyone knows what your purpose is, before and today you will fail this conspiracy, we are requesting you to avoid such politics. As long as such toys remain then the country will continue to suffer similar losses, you are trying to make a constitutional process controversial. He added that Imran Khan is once again playing with the fate of this country.

Someone is bringing a slogan of real freedom and a watch, I appeal to Khan Sahib to be aware, move the March forward by one week, the authority to appoint the Army Chief is with the Prime Minister, whoever appoints the Army Chief, the Prime Minister will support. Will, the purpose of announcing the Long March on the same date is to make the appointment controversial, Imran Khan in the realm of politics There will be sit-in in Pindi after three years, it will be dangerous for Pakistan and the institution, I don’t want important figures in politics to be called alive and someone dead, politics should not be lured for unconstitutional work.

The foreign minister said that Khan wants to take advantage of this whole process, he is facing economic difficulties due to floods, the Prime Minister’s economic team will get out of these difficulties, the appointment will be done according to the constitution and law, Khan’s face saving. It is in their own hands. He said that the JIT which has been formed by the Punjab government regarding the attack on Imran Khan, will definitely take a decision keeping the law in front.

Northern, Sindh and Central Punjab in the hunt for Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2022-23 final spots

Lahore, November 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):The tenth and final round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2022-23 season begins at three venues across the country tomorrow (Sunday). Number two in the points table Sindh will take on Balochistan at the LCCA Ground, Lahore, fifth placed Southern Punjab play third placed Central Punjab in the Punjab derby at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore and top-ranked Northern face bottom placed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi.

The Sindh-Balochistan match is of vital importance for Sindh who are harbouring hopes of playing their first final of the prestigious domestic trophy since the tournament was revamped as a six-team competition in the 2019-20 season. In the ninth round, Sindh drew their high scoring home tie against Northern at the National Bank Cricket Arena (National Stadium, Karachi).

Sindh at present have Central Punjab breathing down their neck, the two have a mere five point gap – Sindh are at 118 and Central Punjab have a 113 points tally at the conclusion of the ninth round. The Saud Shakeel-led Sindh cannot afford to slip-up in their last match. Both Sindh and Central Punjab would be playing their matches a mere 100-metre or less apart – LCCA Ground and Gaddafi Stadium to add another twist to the intriguing 10th round table.

Sindh need to look for an outright win or ensure that they don’t lag behind Central Punjab in terms of the bonus points in case they draw the match, a loss can seal their fate in case of a win or a draw for Central Punjab with bonus points grabbed.

The Mohammad Saad-led Central Punjab played a rain-affected draw against Balochistan at the LCCA Ground in the previous round. They would have to make a big effort to push for a win against Southern Punjab to improve their chances of a final’s berth. The two sides had drawn the first match of the Punjab derby in October at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Southern Punjab who are at the fifth spot would be hoping to salvage something out of what has been a disappointing season for them with a victory, they are yet to win a match in the season having drawn six games besides two defeats. Southern Punjab had their ninth round fixture against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa washed out in Abbottabad.

Northern have all but confirmed their place in the final following their draw against Sindh and only a big defeat and victories for Sindh and Central Punjab in the tenth round can halt their progress to the tournament decider. Northern currently have a 132 points tally with three wins and six draws from the first nine rounds. Defending champions Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be hoping to upset the table-toppers to finish on a high following their worst season to date in the revamped format. They languish at the bottom with a mere 53 points (three draws, four defeats, two abandoned matches).

Top performers

Openers Abdullah Shafique – Central Punjab and Mohammad Huraira – Northern, are the only two batters to have reached the 800-run mark so far. Abdullah tops the list of tournament run-getters with 867 runs at 72.25 (three centuries and four fifties). Huraira who scored 173 and 58 not out against Sindh in the ninth round has now tallied 800 runs at 72.73 (three centuries, two fifties). Southern Punjab’s seasoned performer Usman Salahuddin is at number three with 733 runs at 61.08 (three centuries, three fifties).

Sindh’s Abrar Ahmed continues to mystify batters with his leg-spin in the ongoing season. Abrar is on the top of the bowling list with 43 wickets in six matches – five five-fers – at an average of 21.95. Northern’s off-spinner Mubasir Khan is number two on the list with 26 wickets in nine games at 30.15 – one five-fer. Central Punjab pacer Mohammad Ali is at number three with 24 wickets at 25.54 – two five-fers.

Cricket Associations Championship 2022-23

Southern Punjab will take on Central Punjab at the UBL Sports Complex, Sindh will play Balochistan at the NBP Sports Complex and Northern will compete against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at KCCA Stadium in the fixtures beginning tomorrow – the tenth and final round. In the ninth round matches Northern and Southern Punjab defeated Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa respectively.
