IHHN conducts the first corporate cricket championship in Lahore 

Karachi, November 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN) hosted its First IHHN Corporate Cricket Championship in Lahore to raise awareness and funds to provide free-of-cost quality healthcare. The annual Cricket Championship provides an opportunity for corporate entities and institutions to come forward and support the noble mission of IHHN through engaging in an exciting sporting event. Several organizations joined IHHN to support the two-day event held in Lahore.

In addition to providing sponsorship for the event, GFS Builders and Developers (GFS), IHHN, Stylers and US Apparel, Zalmi Foundation, Din Group, Ghani Foundation, Orient Group and ABL Funds also participated in the tournament held at the Izmir Town Cricket Ground, Lahore.

The event was well attended by the members of IHHN Board – Mr. Anwaar Ahmed Khan, Director Orient Group of Companies, Mr. Abdul Rehman Talat, Director US Apparel Group, Mian Salman Ahsan and Director JW Group, Mr. Ahmed Faisal Afridi and the executive leadership of IHHN-North.

This thrilling tournament helped bring together the corporate community to join hands to support IHHN and its initiatives. All proceeds from the Corporate Cricket Championship will be utilised towards funding the treatment to provide quality healthcare, free of cost.

You are hereby intimated that the course selection due date for add/drop/replace course(s) for the Fall 2022 semester has been extended from November 15, 2022, to Saturday, November 19, 2022.

Student(s) who fail to enrol/ select any course(s) within the due date of course selection will be declared as “Inactive Student”. Such students may continue their studies through “Readmission” as per the University rule/policy, upon payment of the prescribed Re-Admission Fee in the very next semester.

Note:

Students shall be responsible for late course enrolment, and if any quizzes or assignment(s) have been given or taken.

No request for the enrolment of course(s), and semester unfreeze will be considered after the above said due date.

Fee vouchers once issued will not be adjusted/revised.

Pre Conference Workshop ‘Assessment and Management of Hearing Impairment’ conducted by Centre for Clinical Psychology 

Lahore, November 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):Centre for Clinical Psychology (CCP), University of the Punjab, Lahore organized a one-day workshop on “Assessment and Management of Hearing Impairment” on 10th November, 2022. Ms. Attia Ur Rehman (Associate Professor, Rashid Latil Khan University. Kasur) was the Resource Person. The workshop was offered to professionals and students of Speech and Language Pathology.

Ms. Attia Ur Rehman shared her experience as well as her professional knowledge regarding assessment and management of hearing impaired children and shared verbal and non-verbal ways of assessing and giving therapy to improve their communication skills. The overall focus was to deliver hands on training and live demonstration related Assessment and Management of Learning Impaired children. At the end, Prof. Dr. Salma Dawood, Director. (CCP) thanked Ms. Attia Ur Rehman for conducting this workshop.

RECBT Certification by Ms. Saima Salman at Centre for Clinical Psychology 

Lahore, November 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Centre for Clinical Psychology (CCP), University of the Punjab. Lahore organized a three days Certification Training on “Rational Emotive Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (RECBT)” Centre for Clinical Psychology. With collaboration of Rashid Latif Department of Professional Psychology (RLDPP) conducted on the 9th November, 2022.

Ms. Saima Salman (Founder CEO Rational Living Inc. Singapore) was the Resource Person. The Certification training was offered only to professionals who shared their indigenous experiences and problems they faced while dealing with clinical population related to psychological problems.

Ms. Saima Sidman shared her experience as well as her professional knowledge regarding dealing with resistant clients and taught creative ways of disputing. The overall focus was to deliver hands on training and live demonstration related skills to RECBT. At the end, Pro. Dr. Saima Dawood. Director. (CCP) and Prof. Dr. Muhl Khan Director (RLDPP) thanked Ms Saima Salman for conducting this Certification training course on RECBT.

Guest Speaker Session: Process Design and Productivity

Lahore, November 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):In order to develop practical understanding of students and to strengthen academia-industry linkages, a guest speaker session was organized on the topic “Process Design and Productivity” for BBA students on Thursday, 3rd of November 2022 from 9:30 -11:00 am. The session was organized by Ms. Syeda Uzma Tahira, (Senior Lecturer Operations and Supply Chain Management, FOMS). Dr. Muhammad Usman Shams, Director Mughal Diagnostic and Research Labs (A Project of Mughal Eye Hospital Trust) was invited as guest speaker. Students from the class of “Fundamentals of Operations Management attended the session. The guest speaker session had following objectives:

Understand basic concepts of operations management, productivity and performance measures in health care industry

Develop understanding of the product and service design, process strategies and capacity management techniques

The guest speaker highlighted different elements of laboratory work flow, quality assessment, performance management and key performance indicators used to measure productivity of lab operations. At the end of the session students asked question related to possible career and entrepreneurial options in healthcare industry and the skill set expected from business graduates. The session concluded with a note of thanks and presentation of souvenir to the guest speaker.

Pakistan’s Ayla Majid elected Vice President of ACCA

Islamabad, November 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):Joseph was confirmed in his new role at the annual council meeting after ACCA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 10 November 2022. Ronnie Patton, formerly senior lecturer at Ulster University, Northern Ireland, was appointed deputy president and Ayla Majid from Pakistan, founder and CEO of Planetive – a clean energy and sustainability advisory practice – became vice president.

Ayla joined ACCA in 2006 and has been serving on ACCA’s since 2014. She is the first person from Pakistan and South Asia to be elected the global vice president in a 118-year history of ACCA.

Ayla is an international speaker and is a strong advocate of sustainability and energy transition; takes part in contributing to important themes: Digital Transformation, Climate Finance, Future of Work, Future of Energy and Sustainable Infrastructure. She sits on the Boards of various public and private entities in Pakistan in the areas of energy, pharmaceutical and not for profit sectors. In her various roles she focuses and advises on the adoption of the SDGs across different industries. Ayla is Eisenhower Fellow, and is a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum. She sits on the Global Future Council of Energy Transition of the World Economic Forum.

‘Being a finance professional has equipped me with the tools and connected me with people who are working towards creating action-oriented solutions for a sustainable world,’ she said.

For Ayla promoting the role of women in governance is something she is very passionate about. She said: ‘It is the need of today’s forward-looking organisation.’ Ayla is a champion of board diversity and actively engages in promoting women on boards. She was the first female to sit on the board of any stock exchange in Pakistan. Thanks to pioneers like her, the influence and impact of women is changing the face of Pakistan.

Ayla is also proud that ACCA plays a major role in offering young Pakistanis a promising career path full of growth and opportunities while creating a positive global impact. ‘ACCA is a wonderful qualification, with high quality standards, up to speed with addressing global needs and provides flexibility, and therefore fits really well with the requirements of a diverse audience. It’s particularly a very attractive career choice for women in all parts of the world including developing countries,’ she said.

The newly elected ACCA president, Joseph Owolabi, grew up and studied in Nigeria, has lived and worked in Africa, North America and the UK, and now is an adoptive Australian. He will bring his knowledge of being a global citizen to his time as ACCA president and will draw on his experience of finding a home and a family with ACCA wherever he has lived and worked.

He became an ACCA member in 2011 and has served on ACCA’s International Assembly 2014-2015 and has been an ACCA Council member since 2015. Joseph said: ‘If you had told me as a child growing up that I would one day be the first African leading the largest, truly global accounting body, I would not have believed you. ACCA is an inclusive open and global community for members, future members and partners. Wherever in the world I have found myself, ACCA has given me a home and a family.

‘I am passionate about connecting our community and inspiring the accountants of tomorrow. Great things happen when we collaborate across jurisdictions and national divides.

‘The challenges of today and the complexities of tomorrow will demand continuous learning, courage, sound judgment and a resolve to stay ahead of the curve. The accountancy profession has a key role to play in creating a better world.’

Joseph brings a wealth of experience to the role. He is founder of Rubicola which works in Australia, Africa and North America advising clients on risk, non-financial reporting and sustainable business strategies. His previous experience includes roles at Deloitte, EY and PwC.
