ELEKTROS SONIC Receives Test Results, One Step Closer for DOT Certification

SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FL / ACCESSWIRE / September 20, 2022 / Elektros (OTC PINK:ELEK), an emerging leader in the electric mobility industry, today announced that the company has received significant results regarding the Elektros Sonic vehicles FMVSS 500 Report for Low-Speed Vehicles which was recently conducted overseas by a reputable company hired earlier in the year.

The results from the FMVSS 500 Report concluded that the Elektros Sonic vehicle successfully passed the Maximum Speed Test and Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. The vehicle also passed a variety of safety equipment requirements for the Department of Transportation certification including the driver and passenger’s mirrors, parking brake, and the Vehicle Identification Number. Low-speed vehicles means a motor vehicle that is four-wheeled; whose speed attainable more than 20 mph but not more than 25 mph on a paved level surface; and whose gross vehicle weight rating is less than 3,000 lbs. as stated by the NTEA.

The company looks forward to focusing their efforts on the remaining requirements and is thrilled to be one step closer to receiving certification from the Department of Transportation for Elektros Sonic vehicles.

US Special Representative on Afghanistan Mr Thomas West Called on the Foreign Minister

Karachi, September 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stressed “a peaceful, stable, prosperous Afghanistan is a priority for Pakistan” when US Special Representative for Afghanistan, Thomas West called on him today in New York. The Foreign Minister stressed the significance of continuing international engagement with the interim Afghan government for lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan and beyond.

The Foreign Minister highlighted Pakistan’s facilitative efforts in building regional consensus on the way forward in Afghanistan, including through the Extended Troika mechanism. He also highlighted various steps taken by Pakistan to support bilateral engagements with Afghanistan, as well as extensive facilitation of international humanitarian assistance.

Referring to humanitarian prospects in Afghanistan, which United Nations and international agencies warn will deteriorate further in impending winters, the Foreign Minister stressed that such a scenario could result in mass refugee exodus and provide fertile ground for exploitation by terrorists/ extremists, with regional and international implications.

US Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for peace and stability in Afghanistan, and in facilitation of evacuations. The two sides acknowledged the need for continued cooperation on the shared objectives of sustained efforts and engagement of the international community to alleviate the sufferings of the Afghan people and promote regional peace and stability.

ICC announces changes to Playing Conditions

Dubai, September 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced several changes to its Playing Conditions after the Chief Executives’ Committee (CEC) ratified recommendations from the Sourav Ganguly-led Men’s Cricket Committee, which discussed MCC’s updated 3rd Edition of the 2017 Code of the Laws of Cricket and shared its conclusions with Women’s Cricket Committee, who endorsed the recommendations to CEC.

The main changes to the Playing Conditions that come into effect on 1 October 2022 are:

Batters returning when caught: When a batter is out Caught, the new batter will come in at the end the striker was, regardless of whether the batters crossed prior to the catch being taken.

Use of saliva to polish the ball: This prohibition has been in place for over two years in international cricket as a Covid-related temporary measure and it is considered appropriate for the ban to be made permanent.

Incoming batter ready to face the ball: An incoming batter will now be required to be ready to take strike within two minutes in Tests and ODIs, while the current threshold of ninety seconds in T20Is remains unchanged.

Striker’s right to play the ball: This is restricted so as to require some part of their bat or person to remain within the pitch. Should they venture beyond that, the umpire will call and signal Dead ball. Any ball which would force the batter to leave the pitch will also be called No ball.

Unfair movement by the fielding side: Any unfair and deliberate movement while the bowler is running in to bowl could now result in the umpire awarding five penalty runs to the batting side, in addition to a call of Dead ball.

Running out of the non-striker: The Playing Conditions follow the Laws in moving this method of effecting a Run out from the ‘Unfair Play’ section to the ‘Run out’ section.

Bowler throwing towards striker’s end before delivery: Previously, a bowler who saw the batter advancing down the wicket before entering their delivery stride, could throw the ball to attempt to Run out the striker. This practice will now be called a Dead ball.

Other major decisions: The in-match penalty introduced in T20Is in January 2022, (whereby the failure of a fielding team to bowl their overs by the scheduled cessation time leads to an additional fielder having to be brought inside the fielding circle for the remaining overs of the innings), will now also be adopted in ODI matches after the completion of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League in 2023.

It was also decided that the Playing Conditions for all Men’s and Women’s ODI and T20I matches will be amended to allow hybrid pitches to be used, if agreed by both teams. Currently, hybrid pitches can only be used in Women’s T20I matches.

All Playing Conditions will be updated to reflect these changes.

Sourav Ganguly said: “It was an honour chairing my first meeting of the ICC Cricket Committee. I was pleased with the productive contribution of the Committee members which resulted in key recommendations being made. I thank all members for their valuable input and suggestions.”

The ICC Cricket Committee: Sourav Ganguly (Chair); Ramiz Raja (Observer); Mahela Jayawardena and Roger Harper (Past Players); Daniel Vettori and VVS Laxman (Representatives of Current Players); Gary Stead (Member Team Coach Representative); Jay Shah (Full Members’ Representative); Joel Wilson (Umpires’ Representative); Ranjan Madugalle (ICC Chief Referee); Jamie Cox (MCC Representative); Kyle Coetzer (Associate Representative); Shaun Pollock (Media Representative); Greg Barclay and Geoff Allardice (Ex Officio – ICC Chair and Chief Executive); Clive Hitchcock (Committee Secretary); David Kendix (Statistician).

High Level Side Event on Loss and Damage organized by Pakistan on sidelines of 77th Session of UNGA

Karachi, September 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari chaired a High-Level Event on ‘Loss and Damage: New and Additional Financing’ organized by Pakistan on sidelines of the 77th UNGA Session in New York on 19 September 2022.

The event was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, H.E. Sameh Shoukry (COP-27 Presidency), all major blocs in the climate change negotiations, as well as representative of the Green Climate Fund. Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar also attended the meeting.

In his opening remarks, the Foreign Minister highlighted that the recent catastrophic floods in Pakistan were a clear manifestation of the unprecedented frequency and intensity of extreme climate events. The Foreign Minister mentioned that the floods impacted one in seven Pakistanis (33 million). Initial estimates suggested that the total damage caused by this climate-induced disaster could be upward of $30 billion, equivalent to 10% of Pakistan’s GDP.

The Foreign Minister emphasized that over the years, the developing countries have disproportionately suffered from the vagaries of climate change while contributing a miniscule amount to the Green House Gas (GHG) emissions. For example, while contributing only 0.8% to GHG emissions, Pakistan was consistently among the top 10 most vulnerable countries in the world vis-à-vis the impact of climate change.

The Foreign Minister highlighted the proposal put forward by Pakistan, as Chair of the G77 and China, to include discussions of Loss and Damage finance as an Agenda item at the upcoming COP27, and expressed hope that a decision would be reached for a financial mechanism to compensate developing countries for “loss and damage”.

The Minister also proposed creation of a separate loss and damage financing window by the international financial institutions, including development of a standing debt restructuring modality by the IMF for generating an immediate response to climate-induced natural disasters in the developing countries.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry agreed that Loss and Damage was a reality that would need to be addressed at CoP27 in a holistic manner. He also referred to the UN Secretary-General’s call on “Early Warning Systems”, which could play an effective role in averting and minimizing the loss and damage from climate disasters.

The representative from the Green Climate Fund, Dr, German Velasquez, provided an overview of the existing financial windows particularly in the context of readiness support for national adaptation plans.

Ministers and Climate Change Ambassadors from participating Member States also provided their perspectives on the Way Forward for addressing the issue of Loss and Damage. The participants appreciated Pakistan’s role as Chair of G77 and China and broadly supported the Group’s request for discussion on Loss and Damage finance as a separate agenda item.

Expressing Pakistan’s full support for Egypt’s Presidency, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stressed the need for concrete outcomes on Loss and Damage from COP27.
