Karachi, October 27, 2021 (PPI-OT):A hundred and forty-three students from across the country graduated with a Diploma in Infection Prevention and Control from the Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN) on October 22, 2021. The Infection Control Department organized its fourth graduation ceremony online for the graduates who pass out during the 2020-21 academic year.
The one-year institutional diploma program prepares healthcare professionals to lead and implement comprehensive infection prevention and control strategies in integrated healthcare facilities. The diploma ensures candidates are fully prepared to lead infection prevention and control services and can develop, implement, supervise, and audit a comprehensive infection prevention and control program in different healthcare facilities.
The graduation ceremony started with Tilawat, followed by opening remarks from the Director of Nursing, Rashida Merchant. Arifa Khatoon, Manager, Infection Control, spoke about the diploma program and its importance, followed by Khair un Nisa, Deputy Director, Controller Sindh Nursing Examination Board, who talked about the importance of infection control practice in the healthcare setting and IHHN’s role in the community.
Dr. Zafar Zaidi, Dean, Indus University of Health Sciences, said this was a momentous day for the students passing out and the teachers. “We are very proud of our graduates who are not just working in Pakistan but abroad as well. The way the team worked during COVID-19 and maintained and continued the course is commendable,” he added.
Dr. Abdul Bari Khan, CEO, IHHN, also extended congratulations to the students passing out. Dr. Altaf Ahmed, Director, Pakistan Kidney, and Liver Institute, delivered the keynote address. Dr. Samreen Sarfaraz, Consultant, Infectious Diseases, delivered the closing remarks.
