Haripur: The University of Haripur and the Pakistan Meteorological Department have entered into a partnership to install an Automatic Weather Station at the university. This initiative, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding signed on August 28, 2026, aims to enhance the university's research capabilities in meteorology and environmental sciences.

According to the University of Haripur, the advanced weather station represents an investment of over Rs. 25 million and will be pivotal in strengthening UoH's monitoring and research capabilities. The station, equipped with sensors for air-quality monitoring and a ceilometer for atmospheric studies, will record key meteorological parameters. The partnership also provides the university with live access to meteorological data and analytical tools, not only from the station at UoH but also from PMD weather stations across Pakistan. This access is expected to facilitate extensive climate, environmental, and interdisciplinary research.

The Memorandum of Understanding is set to bolster collaboration between the University of Haripur and the Pakistan Meteorological Department in technical cooperation, training, and climate research. The facility will serve as a resource for students, faculty, and researchers and is anticipated to benefit the local community by improving access to reliable weather and environmental information.
