Sindh Madressatul Islam Celebrates 142nd Foundation Day with Exhibition and Ceremonies

Karachi: The Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) celebrated its 142nd Foundation Day on Tuesday with a series of events, including an exhibition highlighting the historical journey of the institution. The celebrations were inaugurated by Muhammad Ismail Rahoo, Provincial Minister for Universities and Boards, at the university premises.

According to Sindh Madressatul Islam University, the minister, while addressing the main ceremony at the Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Auditorium, emphasized the institution's long-standing contributions to education, noting its role in the Pakistan Movement and its notable alumni, including Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The minister praised SMIU for its integration of quality education, research, and modern knowledge into its mission.

In his address, Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai announced the establishment of the Hassanally Effendi Research Center, which will include research and executive training activities. He also declared the introduction of the 'Hassanally Effendi Award' to recognize outstanding contributions by faculty and students. Dr. Sahrai expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, for his support in the institution's development.

The event featured speeches from faculty, alumni, and students, acknowledging SMIU's role in modern education, along with a tableau presented by students from the SMIU Model School. The celebrations concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony led by Minister Rahoo and university officials.
