Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) Talent Hunt Programme for Schools has successfully engaged 21,000 students in its second season, according to a press release. The programme, which spans 100 districts, was inaugurated by Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi on September 19 at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium. The opening event featured a 40-over match attended by a large crowd, marking the commencement of a tournament that has now expanded to include 1,424 schools.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board, the tournament has seen 489 matches played in its first week, showcasing promising performances from young cricketers. Notably, right-arm fast bowler Asif Khan captured all 10 wickets in a match for IMS sub-campus Mian Mandi in Mohmand district, FATA. His exceptional bowling performance against Government High School Akhunzadogan saw him conceding only 40 runs in seven overs. Additionally, Mohammad Sahil took nine wickets for GHS Bhabhra School in Wah Cantt, illustrating the high level of competition among participants.

Among the batters, eight have surpassed the 200-run milestone, with standout performances from Baitullah Wazir, Hur Ali Mehdi, and Fawad Alam, each scoring over 250 runs. The programme's second season aims to discover future cricket stars and enhance grassroots cricket development, as evidenced by the widespread participation and competitive spirit observed in these early matches.
