Lahore: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore and the Al-Jazari Water and Sanitation Academy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on research, innovation, training, and knowledge exchange in the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector.

According to University of Engineering and Technology, the agreement was formalized by UET Lahore Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir and Principal Al-Jazari Water and Sanitation Academy Dr. Suman Khalid at a ceremony in Lahore. The collaboration aims to address priority areas such as water supply, wastewater management, climate change, environmental sustainability, and water governance.

The partnership will facilitate applied research, technology testing, and the commercialization of innovative solutions in the WASH sector. UET students will gain access to internships and technical training at Al-Jazari's facilities. The agreement also includes faculty exchanges, guest lectures, and joint supervision of research at various academic levels.

Both institutions will work together to promote interdisciplinary collaboration across fields including engineering, environmental sciences, public health, and information technology. UET Lahore will support joint activities by providing access to academic resources, while Al-Jazari will offer access to its laboratories and field sites.

The MoU, effective for three years, outlines a framework for exploring funded research opportunities and specific projects, subject to mutual agreement and resource availability.
