Karachi: On the second day of the 18th Aalmi Urdu Conference 2025, organized by the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, a diverse set of sessions unfolded, addressing themes of literature, culture, and the evolving landscape of media. The day concluded with an international poetry session, drawing a large audience.
The conference featured 17 sessions, starting with a discussion on Urdu criticism and research. Participants explored topics ranging from poetry and regional literature to the role of media in the digital age.
A special interactive session, “Bushra Ansari sa Mulaqat,” attracted significant attention. Eight books were launched during the day’s events, adding to the literary offerings.
A key session titled “The Role of Traditional Media in the Digital Age” included insights from media experts Ghazi Salahuddin, Wusatullah Khan, Owais Tohid, Riffat Saeed, and Waseem Badami. The speakers shared perspectives on the transformation of media, emphasizing the challenges and opportunities presented by digital platforms.
The discussion highlighted that traditional media once held the modern mantle and now faces changes driven by technological advancements. The panelists noted the growing influence of digital media and its potential pitfalls, including misinformation.
Another session, “Future Leaders in the Digital Era,” examined the impact of video-on-demand platforms on content creation. Speakers discussed the evolving nature of storytelling and the democratizing effect of digital media for emerging artists.
In a session dedicated to women’s progress and leadership, participants paid tribute to figures like Benazir Bhutto and Fatima Jinnah. Panelists discussed the ongoing struggle for gender equality and the contributions of women to society.
The day concluded with a grand Aalmi Mushaira, featuring poets from various backgrounds. Presided over by Peerzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui, the event saw performances by notable poets, captivating the audience gathered at Jaun Elia Lawn.
The conference continues to draw participants and attendees, contributing to the vibrant discourse on language, culture, and media in Pakistan.
