Dr. Huma Hameed Appointed as New Dean of Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences

LAHORE: Dr. Huma Hameed has been appointed as the new Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Hameed brings a wealth of experience in pharmaceutical sciences to her new role, having earned her doctorate at INSERM-Paris and the University of Rennes 1, France. Her academic and research endeavors have focused on therapeutic pathways for hepatitis, liver disease, and hepatocellular carcinoma.

According to University of Central Punjab, Dr. Hameed has authored over 70 research publications, amassing a cumulative journal impact factor exceeding 300. Her research primarily targets drug-delivery systems, nanocarriers, and translational pharmaceutics. Additionally, she is the founder of BioHealthion, a startup that has successfully commercialized five products derived from academic research. Dr. Hameed also holds two patent applications with the Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan.

In her capacity as Principal Investigator, Dr. Hameed is leading a funded research initiative on nutraceutical product development at the University of Central Punjab. Her contributions to academia extend to supervising six doctoral and fourteen MPhil researchers, with several of her mentees securing international scholarships such as MEXT Japan, Erasmus Mundus, and Merit Scholarship France.
