University of Poonch’s Chairman of Physics Represents Pakistan at Riyadh International Conference


Rawalakot, Dr. Mian Akif Safin, Chairman of the Physics Department at the University of Poonch, Rawalakot recently represented Pakistan at an international conference held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. His presentation focused on “Thermoelectric Materials for Waste Heat Conversion,” emphasizing the global advancements in converting material heat into electricity. This participation underscores the University of Poonch’s commitment to contributing to international research and academic exchange.



According to University of Poonch Rawalakot, the conference attracted delegates from 42 countries, fostering discussions on the importance of international collaboration and knowledge exchange in research. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zakaria Zakir, Vice Chancellor of Jamia Poonch, lauded Dr. Safin’s involvement in the conference, highlighting it as a matter of honor for the university and a significant step towards enhancing its global academic standing. He stressed that such international recognition is crucial for improving the university’s ranking.



During his trip, Dr. Safin also visited several prestigious universities in Saudi Arabia, including King Abdul aziz University in Jeddah, Prince Sultan University, and King Saud University in Riyadh. These visits aimed at exploring bilateral cooperation and scholarship opportunities for Jamia Poonch students, as well as benchmarking the university against global standards for university rankings. The Education Commission’s financial support for this initiative was specifically acknowledged, underlining the institutional backing for enhancing the university’s international presence and academic reputation.



Dr. Safin’s participation in the Riyadh conference and his visits to leading Saudi universities reflect the University of Poonch’s proactive approach to academic excellence and its efforts to forge meaningful international partnerships in the field of higher education.
