Paris: The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) announced its call for applications for the World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2025. This initiative aims to enhance the skills of young professionals in protecting and promoting World Heritage sites using emerging technologies.
The forum, part of the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee, will be held from July 1 to 8, 2025, at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. Supported by the Republic of Bulgaria, the event will gather around 25 young professionals globally to exchange knowledge and ideas on heritage preservation in a digitally connected world.
The theme for the forum, “World Heritage in an Interconnected World: Leveraging Digital Technologies and Innovative Approaches,” will explore the use of technologies like artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, digital mapping, drones, and 3D modeling in heritage management. The aim is to develop sustainable heritage practices for future generations.
Participants will engage in presentations, workshops, and site visits, culminating in the drafting of a Declaration to be presented at the World Heritage Committee session on July 7. This Declaration aims to encapsulate the collective insights and recommendations of the young professionals.
Eligible applicants, aged 23 to 32, should have experience in fields such as architecture, archaeology, conservation, and digital technologies related to World Heritage. Participants are expected to commit to the forum’s entire duration and demonstrate the ability to implement its outcomes in their home countries.
The selection process will emphasize geographical representation, gender equality, and professional diversity. Successful candidates will be chosen based on their ability to disseminate acquired knowledge and their expertise in World Heritage management practices.
