Pakistan Awami Tehreek will take active part in the provincial elections

Lahore, April 03, 2023 (PPI-OT):Addressing a press conference along with the central leaders, zonal presidents and the candidates of the party for the provincial assembly, PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has said that transparent and fair elections are a must to get the country out of the multiple crises. He declared that PAT would take active part in the provincial elections. He said that the Election Commission has lost its credibility, adding that the conduct of transparent elections is not possible in the presence of the present ECP team. He said that the candidates need to be scrutinized as per the requirements of Article 62 and 63 to stop the tax defaulters, corrupt and convicted people from becoming the members of the assembly. He prayed to the Supreme Court of Pakistan to ensure that the elections are held within 90 days as per the constitutional stipulation.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur revealed in the press conference that he received a call from PTI President Ch Pervaiz Elahi. He said that we would discuss the future course of action in us in-person meeting. He said that transfers and postings are not the prerogative of the caretaker government. He said that Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri held a long march and staged a sit-in for the electoral reforms and the reconstitution of the ECP as per the Constitution but the then government did not implement the agreement that was reached between PAT and the government.

Criticizing the flour distribution, PAT Secretary General said that the manner in which the distribution is being done is humiliating. He said that there are reports of defective wheat being distributed that have negative implications for human health. He said that textile and auto industries are winding up; and joblessness is on the rise, adding that the government is unable to pay attention to the basic issues. He said that some kind of legislation should be carried out to ban the use of foul language inside and outside of parliament. He said whenever the PMLN has come into power, it has unleashed a reign of intimidation, and harassment whereby the political workers are being arrested unlawfully. He said that the arrest of political workers and leaders without due process of law is negation of law and the basic human rights. He said that the threats being hurled at the SC represent the height of lawlessness.

Meanwhile an Iftar dinner was hosted in the honour of PAT’s provincial assembly candidates. PAT leaders said that the change in the system is our manifesto. PAT awards tickets to 100 candidates for Punjab Assembly election

Lahore, March 27, 2023 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Awami Tehreek has issued the final list of its candidates who have been awarded party tickets for the Punjab Assembly elections. On the directions of the party, 100 candidates submitted their nomination papers with the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Fawad Chaudhry and Senator Ijaz Ch call on Khurram Nawaz Gandapur

Lahore, March 25, 2023 (PPI-OT): Senior PTI leaders Fawad Chaudhry and Senator Ijaz Chaudhry visited the MQI central secretariat. They called on PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur and discussed prevailing political situation in the country. Speaking on the occasion, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that the postponement of the elections in Punjab is a clear deviation from the Supreme Court ruling. He said that PAT would play its active role in politics. He said that the people’s sufferings are being ignored in the conflict over elections, adding that unplanned relief has led to the people’s worries. He said that the distribution of free flour was not planned well, and it is for this reason that precious lives have been lost.

He said that our attention remains focused on justice in the Model Town case, adding that the non-provision of justice to the families of the martyrs even after the passage of the eight years is a cause of serious concern. He said that countries become the victim of anarchy in the absence of justice and fair play. In his talk on the occasion, former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry said that Pakistan’s future is linked to the implementation of the rule of law and the Constitution in letter and spirit. He said that the political instability is taking a heavy toll on the country. He said that the PTI never shut the door on political dialogue, adding that the demand for election is in line with the Constitution. He said that the people are looking at the Supreme Court now.

He said that the election deadline given by the apex court is being made controversial in one way or the other. He said the deviation from the rulings of the Supreme Court has serious implications. He said that PTI stands for peace and stability. He said that the Constitution is the only document that can help us find solutions to each problem. Raja Zahid Mahmood, Noorullah Siddiqui, and Arif Chaudhry were also present in the meeting.

Senator Azam Swati meets Khurram Nawaz Gandapur

Lahore, February 14, 2023 (PPI-OT):Senior PTI leader Senator Azam Swati visited the PAT secretariat and met PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur in his office. Both the leaders discussed the prevailing political situation in the country. In his talk, Senator Azam Swati said that we wanted to see the institutions responsible for dispensation of justice strong, dignified and empowered so that no one is able to violate the constitution, morality and fundamental rights on the basis of power. He said that there is neither democracy nor the system of justice in Pakistan, adding that the Model Town tragedy is its living manifestation.

Senator Swati said that the basic fundamental rights and the sanctity of home are unsafe under the present system. He said that we would continue to raise voice for the oppressed of the Model Town tragedy till such time that justice is served. Speaking on the occasion, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur described the present system as the biggest enemy of development and progress and waged a political struggle against it.

He said that the PAT workers laid down their lives and still continue to face harassment, intimidation and illegal cases to this day. He said that our standard position is that no change is possible as long as the current system stays intact. He said that the system has strengthened mafias so much that they consider themselves above accountability.

A delegation of Awami Tajir Ittehad visits Lahore Chamber of Commerce

Lahore, November 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):A delegation of Awami Tajir Ittehad visits Lahore Chamber of Commerce Led by its coordinator Altaf Hussain Randhawa, a delegation of Awami Tajir Ittehad visited the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry and congratulated Kashif Anwar and Zafar Mahmood Chaudhry on being elected president and senior vice-president of the LCCI.

Speaking on the occasion, LCCI president Kashif Anwar underlined the role of the business community in the national economy. He said that the new team at the LCCI would play its role in making the tax system equitable and business-friendly.

He said that the consultation with the business community is essential for the resolution of the problems facing the traders and business people. He said that Awami Tajir Ittehad is a very organized body, stating that we would benefit from its experience and discipline.

Altaf Hussain Randhawa said that Pakistan’s economy is passing through the toughest period in history. He said that it is important that the maximum facilitation is provided to them to kick-start growth. He hoped that the new LCCI body would take steps for the development and facilitation of the business community.

He said that Lahore is a trading hub and this makes it necessary for the authorities to take steps for the development of the city. He said that urgent actions need to be taken to do away with encroachment and parking issues in the markets. He said that Awami Tajir Ittehad would extend its cooperation to the LCCI for the resolution of the problems facing the traders and business people.

Senior Awami Tajir Ittehad leaders Rashid Chaudhry and Naveed Butt invited Kashif Anwar and other office-bearers of the LCCI to visit the central secretariat of MQI, Minhaj University Lahore, Tehfeez-ul-Quran and Orphan Care Home. They appreciated the role of the LCCI in the growth of the business activities despite tough economic conditions.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur visits Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and amp; Industry

Lahore, October 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur visited the Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI). President and the office-bearers of the Chamber warmly received Khurram Gandapur on his arrival. He visited different departments of the Chamber and got a briefing about their working from the office-bearers.

Talking to the members, traders, businessmen and the office-holders of the Chamber, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that it is a matter of great honour for him to visit the SCCI. He lauded the role of the Chamber in generating economic activities and contributing to the economic development of the country. He said that he is happy to learn about the actions that the SCCI has undertaken to support the business community and the people during the challenging economic times.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that the traders, industrialists and business people have a fundamental role to play in the economy. He said that their facilitation and effective participation is critical to the national growth and development.

He said that the country cannot achieve economic self-sufficiency without empowering the business community. He said that unless we increase our exports and decrease imports, we will continue to face one economic crisis after the other, stating that it is here that the business community can play a very vital role.

PAT Secretary General emphasized the need for more collaboration between the Pakistani business people and the foreign counterparts. He said that the government should support and facilitate the business community to explore markets for their exports so that they cannot only increase their production but also earn precious foreign exchange.

He said that the issue of unemployment will be overcome only when the private sector can generate sufficient jobs, which in turn depends on the enhancement of economic activities.
