Annual Meeting of MUL’s Board of Governors

Lahore, November 26, 2022 (PPI-OT):The annual meeting of the Board of Governors (BOG) of Minhaj University Lahore (MUL) was held on 23 November 2022. Honourable Chairman BOG, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri, participated in the meeting virtually. Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Deputy Chairman BOG, presided over the meeting. Other worthy participants were Dr. Sajid Mehmood Shahzad, Vice-Chancellor, Minhaj University Lahore, Syed Naveed Hussain Shah, Director (M and E) HEC, Barrister Aamir Hassan, Advocate, Supreme Court of Pakistan, Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir Chairperson PHEC, Prof. Dr. Syed Mansoor Sarwar, Vice-Chancellor UET Lahore, Mr. Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, Secretary-General, MQI, Prof. Dr. Hamid Saeed member BOG, Dr. Khurram Shahzad, Registrar / Secretary BOG, Brig. (R) Iqbal Ahmad, Vice President MQI, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shahid Soroya member BOG.

The Chair welcomed all worthy members of the Board of Governors. The University’s progress over the last year was presented and well-appreciated by the members. BOG members admired the facilities and rapid development of the University in all fields. Moreover, Future Development Plans were also presented and approved accordingly.

Visit of Dr. Ali Erbash, President, Presidency of Religious Affairs, Turkey

Lahore, February 21, 2022 (PPI-OT):Addressing a special ceremony held in his honour at Minhaj University Lahore (MUL), Prof Dr Ali Erbas, Turkish Minister for Religious Affairs, has said that people in Turkey are greatly appreciative of the religious and educational services of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. He said that the contributions made by Minhaj-ul-Quran International for the promotion of Islamic teachings, peace, and interfaith dialogue are worthy of being praised. He congratulated Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri on his 71st birthday and said that he was greatly pleased to visit MUL, adding that Muslim Ummah needs excellent educational institutions that are capable of generating knowledge and research to address today’s challenges.

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Dr Noor-ul-Haq Qadri said in his speech that Pak-Turk bilateral relations are the symbol of prosperity and peace of the Islamic world. He also conveyed his greetings to Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri on his 71st birthday and said that Shaykh-ul-Islam has rendered amazing services in every walk of life. He said that his research work and scholarly contributions are for the guidance of the succeeding generations.

Deputy Chairman, Board of Governors of Minhaj University Lahore, Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri welcomed the honourable guests on their arrival in the University. He said that the brotherly Islamic country, Turkey, has rendered immense services for the Islamic world and humanity more than any other country. He announced the grant of 5 scholarships for the Turkish students on behalf of Minhaj University Lahore and said that these scholarships are a gift for the honourable guests from Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri. Prof Dr Ali Erbas also reciprocated the gesture by announcing 10 scholarships for the Pakistani students. These announcements were met with thunderous round of applause from the participants of the ceremony. The national anthems of both the brotherly countries were played at the start of the ceremony.

Vice Chancellor Minhaj University Lahore Dr Sajid Mehmood Shahzad presented the welcome address in which he presented a brief introduction of the University. The Turkish delegation included Dr Abdur Rehman Haikely, Usman Taraski, Doc. Dr. Selim Argun (Vice President of the Religious Affairs), Prof. Dr Ibrahim Hilmi Karsli (Vice President of the Religious Affairs), Erdal Atalay (Director General of External Relations), Doc. Dr. Mustafa Bulert DADAS (Vice President of the Religious Affairs), Hasan Guclu (First Secretary of Prof. Dr. Ali Erbas), Mahmut Ozdemir (Head of the Department of Muslim Countries and Communities), Burak Orhan (Counsellor), Sanan, Adil Ailarzi, Qari Ferrukh Mustuer, Sadik Ozkan, Muhammad Emin Biyik, Cem Iskender OZBALI, and Muhammad Gunn. The birthday cake of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri was also cut in the ceremony. The Turkish delegation was shown a documentary about Minhaj University Lahore, Shaykh-ul-Islam and Minhaj-ul-Quran International in the Turkish language.

Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri suggested that Turkey and Pakistan should collaborate to improve the global image of Muslims. He said that Muslims don’t have the kind of means of expression and tools such as Facebook and Twitter. He said because of weakness on the media front, Islam is accused of terrorism and extremism and suffers from the image problem in the world.

The ceremony was attended by MQI Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur. Brig. (r) Iqbal Ahmad Khan, Registrar MUL Dr Khurram Shahzad, Senator Ijaz Chaudhry, Sohail Ahmed Raza, G M Malik, lecturers and the heads of various Departments of MUL. All members of the Turkish delegation were gifted the books of Shaykh-ul-Islam on the occasion.

Founder’s Day Celebrations

Lahore, February 18, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Founders Day was organized to celebrate the jubilance of 71 birthday of Shaykh-ul- Islam Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul- Qadri, Chairman BOG, MUL. The Chief Guest was honourable Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Governor of Punjab. He expressed his delight over his friendship with Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri which has been knotted almost for 30 years.

Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri, Deputy Chairman BOG, MUL presided over the ceremony. In his address, he highlighted the services of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr. Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri for the promotion of knowledge and peace. Dr. Sajid Mahmood Shahzad, Vice-Chancellor, MUL paid rich tribute to Shaykh-ul- Islam for his great scholarly and religious services.

On the occasion of Founder’s Day Dr. Muhammad Mumtaz ul Hassan from School of Islamic Studies received Research Excellence Award, Dr. Nadia Jabbin from School of Botany won Best Research Science and Technology Award and Dr. Ijaz Aslam from School of Islamic Economics, Banking and Finance won Best Research Social Science Award while Mr. Waqas Shair, Lecturer School of Economics and Finance won the Best Teacher Award.

There was a lucky draw for Umrah. Miss Memona Kanwal from the teaching staff, Miss. Hina Shahzadi from non-teaching staff and student Mr. Shehar Yar Mohammad were lucky winners. On this jubilant occasion, a special fee discount was offered for Spring Admission 2022 and 17 students were awarded scholarships under Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri Merit Scholarship at the ceremony.

A cake-cutting ceremony was also held in which participated all the distinguished guests and faculty members. World-renowned classical singer Ustad Hamid Ali Khan, filmmaker, director Syed Noor, renowned comedians Honey Albela, Iftikhar Thakur, Nabeel Gabol, Azhar Rangeela and Wahdat Rameez rhyme Naat were part of this ceremony.

A special lecture on Journalism for the State and Website Launching of Roznama Tehreek

Lahore, January 28, 2022 (PPI-OT):Mr. Hassan Khawar, Special Assistant to Chief Minister of Punjab on information was the Chief Guest. He also delivered a productive lecture on the topic “Journalism for the State”. The occasion was graced by Dr. Khurram Shahzad, Registrar (MUL), Mr. Noor Ullah Siddiqui, Chief Executive, Roznama Tehreek and Dr. Khuwaja Alqama, Dean, Social Sciences and Humanities (MUL). Honourable Guest called upon Dr. Hussain Mohi Ud Din Qadri, Deputy Chairman (BOG, MUL) at his office and had an exchange of views. Later on, he visited the various departments of the university.

Recruitment Drive

Lahore, January 26, 2022 (PPI-OT):A Recruitment Drive was carried out by Cakes and Bakes at MUL for the students from the faculty of Economics and Management Sciences and the faculty of Computer Sciences and Information Technology. This recruitment drive was arranged by the Advancement Office.

Mr. Raza Ahmed Deputy Manager HR, Mr. Adnan Senior Executive HRD delivered a brief introduction to the students about the outlets and operations of the company. The students were interviewed. Those who qualify in the initial interview will be called for further interviews. This was an interactive session and students asked questions about the career path at the organization.

Meal Planning, Management and Innovative Product Development

Lahore, January 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):Meal Planning and Management Practical Evaluation and Innovative Product development was conducted in the Sensory Evaluation Lab. The event was conducted with the collaboration of the School of Human Nutrition and Dietetics and School of Food Science and Technology, under the supervision of Ms. Fatima Muslim and Hussnain Muhammad.

Students of Human Nutrition and Dietetics from students prepared and presented Formal Buffet Menu, including Appetizer, Soup, Salad, Main Dish, Side Dish, Accompaniment and Dessert. Students from the Food Science and Technology also developed innovative products which included, jams, squashes, biscuits. The occasion was graced by Registrar, Associate Treasurer, Dean of Faculty of Applied Sciences, Dean of Allied Health Sciences, Director Admin who evaluated the Menu Items and the Food Products.
