SWABI: A recent report indicates that the voter registration rate in Swabi district is 59% of its projected population for 2025, exceeding the national average of 54% by five percentage points. This figure is drawn from district-wise electoral roll statistics and population estimates, highlighting a significant engagement in the electoral process within the district.
According to the Free and Fair Election Network, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) released the detailed statistics on December 30, 2025. These figures cross-reference the 2023 Digital Census data and apply a 2.59% annual growth rate to Swabi's base population of 1,894,600, leading to an estimated population of 1,994,011 for 2025. The district currently has approximately 1.2 million registered voters, comprising 626,479 males and 549,543 females. Male voter registration stands at 62% of the male population estimate, while female registration is at 56%.
Swabi ranks 45th by population size among 136 districts nationally and is represented by two Members of the National Assembly. By voter registration rate, Swabi places 27th nationally and 11th out of 35 within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The report attributes Swabi's above-average registration rate to specific rules of the 2023 Digital Census, which recorded household members at their current address if they were absent from their home address for more than six months. This approach, coupled with significant labour migration, has resulted in a voter roll that is larger than the population denominator used in the calculations, thus elevating Swabi's registration rate above the national average.
Despite the district's robust overall registration rate, the gender gap remains at 6.5%, with female voters making up 46.7% of the registered electorate. The report emphasizes the need for continued outreach to ensure equitable female voter registration.
